Legal Operations Director
Juniper Square Legal Operations Director We are looking for a founding Legal Operations Director to build Juniper Square's legal operations from the ground up. You'll design and implement the playbook to allow our legal organization to operate at scale with efficiency, insight, and impact. You'll serve as a strategic partner to the Head of Legal, shaping long-term operational plans and leading annual and quarterly planning cycles. You'll partner closely with Sales, Services, Procurement, Deal Desk, FP&A, Accounting, Security, Product, and People Operations to ensure legal processes align with commercial, financial, HR/employee, technical, and companywide operational workflows. The successful candidate will know Ironclad inside and out, be curious about new technologies, excited to design new AI workflows, and enjoy the challenge of building a new operation's muscle for the company from scratch. This is a highly impactful role within the department, offering the opportunity to shape how legal services are delivered in a fast-paced, evolving enterprise environment.Strategic & Cross-Functional LeadershipLead the vision and execution of Legal Operations to build a scalable, efficient, and high-performing team.Drive clarity, accountability, and operational alignment across the Legal function.Build workflows with AI at the center, automating what doesn't require human attention and prioritizing what does.Legal Technology, Intake & Process OptimizationServe as the primary administrator for legal technology platforms. Own and optimize the legal-tech stack, with deep accountability for Ironclad configuration, workflow design, reporting, and adoption.Design and manage legal intake and matter-management processes (ticketing/queues, triage, SLAs) to route work efficiently and increase self-service.Evaluate and implement additional technologies (workflow automation, AI-enabled tools, knowledge systems, e-signature, document management) that improve speed, visibility, and scale.Build and maintain legal knowledge repositories, playbooks, templates, and process documentation (e.g., Confluence) to enable self-serve contracting and reduce routine legal touchpoints.Operational Excellence, Metrics & Change ManagementDefine, track, and report on KPIs for cycle times, throughput, backlog, service levels, and operational risk.Use data and root-cause analysis to drive continuous improvement and process simplification.Lead change-management efforts for new systems, processes, and organizational shifts, including communication plans, training, and adoption tracking.Team, Vendor & Spend ManagementBuild the Legal Operations function from the ground up and scale the team over time as the company grows.Oversee vendor relationships for legal technology, ALSPs, and outside counsel, including selection, contracting, performance management, and cost optimization.Own or co-own e-billing and outside counsel spend management, partnering with Finance to track spend, enforce billing guidelines, and identify savings opportunities.Budget, Risk & Transaction SupportHelp manage the Legal department budget and forecasts; ensure disciplined financial operations across tools, vendors, and outside counsel.Oversee virtual data rooms and legal operations support for M&A, financings, and other strategic transactions.Additional ResponsibilitiesAdapt to evolving business needs and perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications8+ years of Legal Operations experience within a high-growth technology or services company, and ideally 2+ years managing and developing a team.Hands-on expertise implementing and optimizing Ironclad or a similar CLM in a high-volume environment.Experience with at least one of: legal intake/matter-management systems, e-billing/outside counsel management, or legal analytics tooling.Building Claude skills for legal tasksSkillsStrong operational and analytical capabilities; able to define KPIs, build dashboards, and communicate insights through data.Proven success leading cross-functional initiatives and complex change-management efforts.Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and executive presence.Ability to operate in fast-paced, ambiguous environments with a continuous-improvement mindset.CompensationCompensation for this position includes a base salary, equity, and a variety of benefits. The U.S. base salary range for this role is $140,000 - $170,000 USD.
