The Dispatcher will coordinate daily trips, monitor service performance, communicate with vehicle operators, and make real-time decisions to help ensure our riders receive safe, timely, and dependable transportation.\n\n*What You'll Do*\n\n* Monitor computerized dispatch systems and telephone communications to ensure quality and timely transportation services.\n* Assign and reassign trips to vehicle operators to maintain productive, reliable, and on-time service.\n* Monitor vehicle operator performance and trip status to support 100% on-time compliance with scheduled appointment times.\n* Respond to operator service requests, including cancellations, no-loads, and other trip-related needs.\n* Coordinate backup personnel and additional vehicle capacity when needed.\n* Maintain positive relationships with vehicle operators and promote a high level of customer service.\n* Remain calm, focused, and effective while managing a high volume of work and responding to emergency situations.\n* Exercise sound judgment when determining the priority of emergencies and responding quickly and accurately.\n* Monitor dispatch communications and systems to ensure requests are processed promptly.\n* Ensure all rides are properly closed out and coded at the end of each day for accurate invoicing.\n* Participate in the analysis and review of operating and service performance.\n* Follow company policies, procedures, protocols, safety standards, and applicable guidelines.\n* Perform other duties as assigned.\n\n*What We're Looking For*\n\nRequired:\n\n* High school diploma or GED.\n* 1–3 years of prior dispatch experience, preferably in a non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT) or paratransit environment.\n* Strong written and verbal communication skills.\n* Ability to read and understand instructions, correspondence, and other written materials.\n* Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vehicle operators, clients, and internal teams.\n* Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment.\n* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.\n* Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and respond to time-sensitive situations.\n\nTechnical Skills:\n\n* Ability to learn and effectively use dispatch and computer-aided dispatch (CAD) software.\n* Microsoft Office/Microsoft 365 experience preferred.\n* Microsoft Teams experience preferred.\n\n*Why Big Star Transit?*\n\nAt Big Star Transit, we believe everyone plays an important role in creating the Big Star experience.
