POSITION: Senior Banquet ManagerDEPARTMENT: Food & BeverageFLSA STATUS: Salaried, ExemptTHE ROLEThe Senior Banquet Manager is a key operational leader responsible for overseeing the execution of all banquet and catered events within the Food & Beverage department of the Hawaii Convention Center. This role drives service excellence, operational efficiency, and team performance while ensuring the seamless delivery of large-scale, complex events. As a senior leader, this individual is accountable for managing banquet operations end-to-end, mentoring leadership staff (captains/supervisors), and partnering cross-functionally with Culinary, Catering Sales, and Event Management to deliver exceptional guest experiences.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership & Event ExecutionLead and oversee all banquet operations, ensuring flawless execution of events ranging from small meetings to large-scale conventions and high-volume functionsDirect pre-function meetings, ensuring all service staff are aligned on event details, timing, and service standardsManage floor operations during events, proactively addressing last-minute changes, service recovery, and client needsEnsure all banquet spaces are set, maintained, and reset to the highest standardsTeam Leadership & DevelopmentProvide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to Banquet Captains, Supervisors, and service staffOversee staffing plans, scheduling, and labor deployment to align with business needs and productivity targetsLead hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management for banquet team membersFoster a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvementCross-Functional CollaborationPartner closely with Catering Sales and Event Managers to review BEOs and ensure accurate execution of all event detailsCollaborate with Culinary, Stewarding, Engineering, and Security teams to coordinate logistics and service deliveryParticipate in daily/weekly operational meetings to align on upcoming events and prioritiesFinancial & Inventory ManagementManage labor and operational costs, ensuring efficiency while maintaining service qualityMonitor food & beverage costs, waste, and inventory levels to meet profitability targetsOversee banquet equipment, linen inventory, and supply requisitionsReview and validate guest checks, billing accuracy, and cash handling proceduresQuality Control & ComplianceMaintain and enforce service standards, policies, and proceduresConduct regular inspections of banquet areas, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and readinessEnsure compliance with health, safety, and local liquor regulationsMonitor staff appearance, service execution, and adherence to brand standardsOperational Excellence & Continuous ImprovementIdentify opportunities to enhance service delivery, streamline processes, and improve guest satisfactionImplement new standards, systems, and best practices to elevate banquet operationsLead post-event reviews and gather feedback to continuously improve performanceSupervisory ResponsibilitiesCarries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all Legends Global policies and applicable laws.
