Under the Combat Systems Business Area, the Technical Writer will have a part in the development and integration of cutting-edge combat, command and control systems for U.S Navy platforms. The successful candidate will write, rewrite and/or edit technical documents such as Integrated Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) in XML format, process documentation, technical reports, user guides, and procedures. The candidate will collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), research and analyze available literature and specifications.\nJob Responsibilities:\nVerifies technical data with appropriate engineers.\nDevelop technical data structured into data modules, publication modules and information control number structured graphics in accordance with the S1000D specification.\nDesign new technical documentation based on existing standards and templates, OR create new standards and templates where absent.\nStudy drawings, specifications, mockups, and product samples to integrate and delineate functional and operations information, operating and maintenance procedure, and troubleshooting procedures.\nReview published materials and recommended revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction.\nEdit, standardize, or make changes to material prepared by other writers.\nParticipate in project meetings and meet deadlines with the support of the team lead.\nMay coordinate production and distribution of materials.\nQualifications:\nEducation: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent military experience.\nExperience: AN/BYG1 Combat Control System and/or Common Infrastructure Services (CIS) operation and maintenance desired.\nDesired Skills and Experience:\nProficiency in MS Office.\nIETM development, using XML content management database applications.\nDesktop publishing software to automate authoring and publishing processes for technical documentation (e.g. PTC Arbortext, XML Spy, etc.)\nGraphics development software (GIMP. Adobe Design, etc.)\nExperience with Jira and Sharepoint a plus.\nThe ability to work independently and as part of a team, including virtual teams when required.\nMust possess strong written and oral communication skills.\nAbility to obtain a Secret Clearance required.\nAs a requirement of employment, all SEACORP employees must hold U.S. Citizenship\nLocation: Manassas, VA\nTravel: Infrequently (\nClearance: Secret\nWork Environment & Physical Demands: Office & Computer Laboratories - Sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens.
