Optician and Patient Service Representative

In this vital role, you will combine your knowledge of optometry, medical terminology, and retail sales to assist patients in selecting eyewear, managing patient records, verifying patient insurance eligibilities, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Your proactive approach will help create a welcoming environment while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations and medical standards. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with appointment scheduling using electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Assist patients in selecting eyewear by providing expert advice on lens options, lab services, and frame fitting. Manage optical inventory, process laboratory orders, and ensure proper documentation of medical records and billing information. Educate patients about eye health, anatomy, physiology, and the importance of regular exams while ensuring compliance with HIPAA privacy standards. Handle retail sales transactions accurately using retail math skills while promoting additional products or services to enhance patient satisfaction. Requirements Proven experience in optical settings or clinic environments with a strong understanding of optometry practices. Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate diverse patient populations including pediatrics and senior care clients. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Retail management experience or retail sales background is a plus; proficiency in retail math is desirable.
