This position will be responsible for tasks such as development of best practices and repeatable procedures for deploying databases, day-to-day operational activities including break/fix, capacity management, backup and recovery, database replication setup/management and ongoing database change reviews. The candidate will also build and maintain large-scale and very high transaction PostgreSQL databases in both public and private cloud installations. They will also work in tandem with the other teams, preparing documentations and specifications as required.\nJob Duties / Key Accountabilities:\nProvision PostgreSQL instances, both in clustered and non-clustered configurations\nEnsure performance, security, and availability of databases.\nImplement, and maintain replication strategies.\nAnalyze performance and implement improvements.\nPrepare documentations and specifications.\nExperience in database software management (patch and version management)\nHandle common database procedures, such as backup, recovery, migration, etc.\nProfile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary.\nCollaborate with other team members and stakeholders.\nWrite scripts to generate adhoc reports, perform data audits, etc using bash or Python.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills\n24/7 Support of production databases.\nQualifications\nRequired:\nStrong proficiency in PostgreSQL database management and optimization\nExperience managing large scale PostgreSQL databases.\nUnderstanding of PostgreSQL user access and authentication processes and controls.\nExperience with replication configuration in PostgreSQL\nHands on experience with designing and implementing database replication strategies.\nKnowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in PostgreSQL\nProficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements.\nKnowledge of PostgreSQL features, such as pgagent or pgbouncer.\nAbility to plan resource requirements from high level specifications.\nKnowledge of limitations in PostgreSQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases.\nExperience administering Debian or Ubuntu Linux.\nAble to work under pressure and multi-task.\nPro-active, dedicated, committed and responsible.\nDesired:\nExperience managing MySQL or SQL Server.\nUbuntu System Administration.\nExperience with Redis.\nExperience with Zabbix.\nExperience with RabbitMQ.\nIndustry experience - either in iLottery or iGaming.\nEducation:\nBachelor’s degree in computer sciences with 5+ years’ experience with PostgreSQL.\nMaster’s degree with 3+ years’ experience.\nCertified PostgreSQL DBA is a plus.\nSG is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate against applicants due to race, color, sex, age, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, status as a veteran, and basis of disability or any other federal, state or local protected class.
