Those things will sometimes be part of it, but the bigger goal is to find someone who can be handed a problem or project, figure out what needs to happen, and get it done.\n\nOne day you might be coordinating interviews, organizing a trip, or following up with a contractor. The next, you might be researching software, setting up a new process, comparing vendors, figuring out how to automate something with AI, or owning a small project from idea through completion.\n\nYou don't need to already know how to do everything.\n\nYou do need to be really good at figuring things out.\n\nThe Role\n\nThe simplest way to describe this position is: *help take things off my plate and make sure they actually get finished.*\n\nI move quickly, have a lot of things going on at once, and would like someone who can bring organization and follow-through without creating more management overhead.\n\nSometimes I'll give you specific instructions.\n\nOther times I'll say something like:\n\n* “Can you figure out the best way to do this?”\n* “Research this and tell me what you recommend.”\n* “We need someone to handle this. Find them.”\n* “There has to be a way to automate this.”\n* “Can you just take care of this?”\n\nThe goal is for you to be comfortable taking it from there.\n\nWhat You'll Own\n\n*Projects & Problem Solving*\n\n* Take loosely defined projects and turn them into completed outcomes.\n* Research unfamiliar topics and quickly get up to speed.\n* Compare options, costs, and tradeoffs and make a recommendation.\n* Coordinate with vendors, contractors, employees, and outside partners.\n* Follow projects through completion instead of just handing information back.\n* Identify things that are stuck or falling through the cracks and proactively move them forward.\n\n*Business Operations*\n\n* Help coordinate hiring, interviews, onboarding, meetings, and follow-ups.\n* Keep track of open items, deadlines, and things we're waiting on.\n* Organize documents, information, and internal processes.\n* Research vendors, software, services, and potential solutions.\n* Help implement new tools and processes.\n* Handle miscellaneous operational projects as they come up.\n\n*Technology & Automation*\n\nYou don't need to be a developer, but you should be very comfortable with technology.\n\n* Learn new software quickly.\n* Be comfortable using AI heavily as a tool for research, writing, organization, and problem solving.\n* Look for opportunities to automate repetitive work.\n* Be willing to experiment with tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Zapier, Notion, spreadsheets, or whatever else solves the problem.\n* Be comfortable researching APIs, integrations, or technical documentation when needed.\n* Work with developers or other technical people when a project goes beyond what you can handle yourself.\n\n*Executive & Personal Support*\n\n* Help manage scheduling, appointments, reservations, and travel.\n* Coordinate home projects, contractors, purchases, returns, and other personal logistics.\n* Help manage email and communication where appropriate.\n* Make calls, schedule appointments, gather quotes, and follow up.\n* Handle the random things that inevitably come up when running a company and a busy life.\n\nThere isn't going to be a clean line between “business” and “personal” work in this role.
