Title: Senior Structural Project EngineerLocation: Portland, ME (Hybrid)Hire Type: Direct HireSalary: $120K-$145KBenefits: Medical, dental, vision, PTO, 401(k)Sterling Engineering is looking for a Senior Structural Project Engineer in Portland, ME supporting a growing engineering consulting organization focused on commercial, institutional, industrial, and infrastructure projects. This opportunity offers long-term growth, leadership responsibility, and exposure to complex structural engineering projects from concept through construction.Job Summary:The Senior Structural Project Engineer will lead structural analysis, design, and project management activities for a variety of building and infrastructure projects. This role will support project execution from early planning through construction administration while coordinating with clients, architects, contractors, and internal engineering teams.Job Duties:Lead the analysis, design, and management of structural systems for commercial, institutional, and residential projectsPerform structural analysis and design in compliance with applicable building codes and standardsPrepare construction documents, calculations, technical reports, plans, and specificationsManage project schedules, budgets, and deliverables across multiple projectsServe as the primary structural contact for owners, architects, contractors, and consultantsConduct field reviews of existing and active construction projectsReview shop drawings, respond to RFIs, and support construction administration activitiesMentor junior engineering staff and support technical developmentTrack project costs and schedules to support successful project deliverySupport client relationship management and business development effortsTravel occasionally throughout New England and surrounding regions as neededQualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred)Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Maine PE or ability to obtain preferred10+ years of experience supporting structural building design, additions, renovations, and infrastructure projectsExperience with steel, concrete, masonry, precast, cold-formed metal, and wood-framed structuresProven ability managing multiple projects from concept through construction within fast-paced environmentsStrong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skillsSoftware:RevitRAMBluebeamMicrosoft Office SuiteStrong knowledge of IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI, and related building codesSchedule:HybridTravel:Up to 10% travel requiredQualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender
