Our team will train you on stand-up forklifts, sit down forklift’s, joey’s and more.\n\nTAPCO Growth : The Material Handler position encompasses multiple aspects of warehousing, and here at TAPCO we will train you in multiple areas such as picking, packing, small pack processing, receiving, and freight.\n\nWhat you will accomplish as a Material Handler at TAPCO:\n\nThe DC Material Handler position is responsible for accurately and safely receiving, storing, packaging, and shipping all product entering and leaving TAPCO. This role requires flexibility to adapt quickly to change and a desire for growth. This position plays a key role in TAPCO’s prime metrics that feed directly into the companywide gainsharing program. Material Handler Iwill have a broad knowledge of DC tasks, performing some at high level. Cross trained with the ability to switch roles when needed.\n\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities:\n\nOperate needed warehouse equipment as assigned.\nCompares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records\nUses computer or handheld to utilize WMS system to look up, verify data, process sales orders or purchase orders related to incoming and outgoing orders\nFollows all building safety procedures and PPE\nRetrieves product from warehouse locations and assembles customer orders\nAssembles wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers and inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding\nAffixes shipping labels on packages or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons\nAttaches identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers\nUnpacks and examines incoming shipments, follows established procedures to reject damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper and supervisor to rectify damages and shortages\nStocks items into proper locations\nLoad/unload trucks for shipments\nExamines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications\n Perform other duties as assigned\n Training Matrix task score of 125-247\n\nKnowledge/Skill/Ability:\n\nMust be able to read, write, and interpret English instructions\nOperate forklift and other powered equipment\nAbility to present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, suppliers, and customers\nAbility to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals\nAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables\nAbility to interpret verbal and written instructions\nAble to lift up to 70 lbs\nAble to remain calm in stressful situations\nEffective verbal communication skills\nComputer skills – Basic knowledge and ability to look up and enter data\nAble to learn and accept feedback\nAble to work cooperatively in a team-based environment and independently\nAble to use a variety of hand tools\nAbility to multitask in a fast-paced warehouse environment\n\nRequired Experience:\n\n2 + years’ experience in a related role or in a distribution center environment\nHigh school diploma or equivalent\n2 - 3 years forklift experience loading / unloading trucks\nExperience using an Inventory Control System\n\nAbout Us:\n\nAt TAPCO, our mission is to enhance transportation and personal safety in our communities through innovative solutions and products.
