AI Prompt Engineer / RPA Implementation Specialist
Pay Rate Range: $60.00 - $70.00 per hour
Job Type: Contract – thru June 2026, strong possibility of extension
Location: Long Island City, NY (Queens)
Work Mode: hybrid – 3 days a week onsite
Interview Mode: 1-2 rounds via MS Teams – must be on camera. AI interference will lead interviewers to cancel immediately. Second round onsite
We are seeking a highly skilled AI Prompt Engineer / RPA Implementation Specialist to join a large-scale Data Modernization Initiative (DMI) designed to transform public health data systems across New York City. This project modernizes outdated, siloed systems into connected, resilient, and sustainable platforms that support real-time decision-making and improve public health outcomes.
In this role you will design and implement AI-driven automation solutions , build scalable RPA workflows , and integrate systems across cloud and on-prem environments. You'll collaborate with business stakeholders to translate needs into intelligent automation strategies, improve operational efficiency, and advance NYC's data modernization strategy.
AI Prompt Engineering & Development
Design, test, and refine prompts to improve performance of large language models (LLMs) using Azure OpenAI services .
Build and implement generative AI solutions, conversational interfaces, and intelligent automation workflows.
Apply best practices in prompt engineering to optimize outputs and reduce hallucinations.
RPA Implementation & Management
Design, develop, and deploy automated workflows with Microsoft Power Automate (desktop and cloud).
Build attended and unattended RPA solutions to streamline business processes.
Integrate RPA solutions with enterprise systems, troubleshoot issues, and ensure optimal performance.
System Integration & Automation
Connect AI agents with APIs, databases, and enterprise platforms.
Develop automation solutions that work across Windows and Linux environments .
Create technical documentation and collaborate with stakeholders to identify automation opportunities.
Required Technical Skills
Programming: Python, JavaScript, C#, Java
Expertise in Microsoft .NET Framework (Visual Basic .NET preferred)
Strong SQL knowledge for data processing and manipulation
HTML/CSS for web-based automation and UI development
Experience with Azure OpenAI, NLP frameworks (SpaCy, Hugging Face, NLTK)
Power Platform: Power Automate, Power Apps, AI Builder, Dataverse integration
Azure Services: Functions, Logic Apps, Active Directory, ARM templates
Integration/API: RESTful APIs, SOAP, JSON, authentication (OAuth, API keys)
Data & Analytics: Pandas, NumPy, SQL, Excel automation, Matplotlib, statistical modeling
Required Business & Technical Skills
Process analysis, workflow design, and technical documentation
Solution architecture and system integration planning
Agile/Scrum project delivery, version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines
Testing and quality assurance
Platform-Specific Expertise
Windows: Server administration, PowerShell scripting, Task Scheduler, remote automation
Linux: Command line proficiency, shell scripting, system administration fundamentals
Soft Skills & Qualifications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong stakeholder engagement and cross-functional collaboration
Analytical problem-solving with adaptability in a fast-paced environment
Ability to train and mentor end-users on automation solutions
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, or related field
2–5 years of experience in automation, RPA, or AI development
Experience in workflow/process optimization
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and enterprise applications
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications: Microsoft Certified Power Automate RPA Developer, Azure AI/OpenAI, UiPath, Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, or Azure Fundamentals
Experience with Citrix or VDI automation, SAP/ERP integration, ML model deployment, OCR/document processing
