Prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a credit background check.SummaryManages a team of engineers, technical leads, administrators, and support personnel with a primary focus on PNM owned generation including San Juan Generating Station, Afton, Lordsburg, Luna, and Reeves generating stations. Ensures high value, economical projects are evaluated, designed, and constructed for PNM power generation facilities. Plans, organizes, leads, and controls the stations engineering, asset management programs, document control services, capital project management, and capital vendor alliance services and activities.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesSupplies the materials, tools, capital, and other resources necessary to accomplish the departments goals, objectives, and improvement initiativesDetermines, develops, and maintains work relationships among the stations various departments, disciplines, and work-groupsGenerates forecasts, environmental, and auxiliary equipment performance curves, upgrade economics, and capital replacement requirements and capabilitiesEstablishes one-year and five-year equipment capital improvement, outage project, and engineering project targetsSets department goals and objectives that achieve the departments capital improvement, outage, and engineering project targetsDevelops, applies, and meets budgets that support the departments goals and objectivesEstablishes, executes, and achieves work sequences, schedules, milestones, and deadlinesDevelops, enacts, and enforces policies, procedures, programs, and guidelinesAssesses, adjusts, and controls the work of the department to accomplish the departments goals and objectivesDetermines department availability, reliability, and productivity performance standardsEstablishes methods of measuring, monitoring, and reporting work in progress and completed tasksEvaluates work in progress and results achieved against the standardsCorrects deficient performance improving methods and resultsCompetenciesBroad knowledge of the design, maintenance, and operation of all power generation technologies including fossil-fired power plants and associated environmental systemsUnderstanding of and ability to utilize project management tools and techniques to plan, schedule, execute, and document outage projects and engineering projects in an effective, efficient, and safe mannerAbility to exercise considerable technical judgment and influence in the analysis of engineering problems and solutions; and in the implementation of those solutions while maintaining plant operating equipment availability, reliability, and productivity targetsUnderstanding of and ability to utilize sound management techniques and leadership principlesAbility to make sound judgments and crucial decisions in short amounts of timeAbility to maintain positive and productive working relationships with various individuals and groupsQualificationsMINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in engineering with seven to nine years related experience, including two years of management experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.Master's degree is preferred.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesHires, trains, evaluates, rewards, and terminates employees.
