Surveillance Manager

Job Description Position: Surveillance Manager Department: Surveillance Job Summary: Oversees the day-to-day management of Surveillance staff and operations to ensure compliance with the State gaming compact as well as applicable gaming laws, regulations, policies, and procedures. Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):Oversees and directs Surveillance staff ensuring that effective monitoring occurs of Sol Casinos' property, people, and data in conjunction with such areas as Tribal Gaming, Security, and Compliance.Reviews, monitors, and ensures staff adherence with the State gaming compact as well as applicable gaming laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.Ensures that incident reports are accurate, well written, and submitted in a timely manner.Conducts investigations to determine violations of policy and makes recommendations to Surveillance Senior Management and Casino Executive Management.Assists in the development of internal control systems as well as policies and procedures for Sol Casinos.Conducts audits to assess adherence to Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS) and Minimum Internal Control Standards (MICS); analyzes results; prepares reports of findings and recommendations for improvement; and implements changes, as appropriate.Prepares or assists with the preparation of regularly scheduled reports related to Sol Casinos compliance with gaming regulations.Supervises and develops assigned personnel by mentoring, coaching, and providing performance feedback; works collaboratively with them to design professional development plans that support their continuous learning.Monitors job performances of team members and provides feedback to aid them in developing and enhancing skills; handles team member relations matters, including corrective action of supervisory or line staff; and writes performance evaluations ensuring fairness and equity.Maintains appropriate staffing levels through effective scheduling.Holds regularly scheduled staff meetings and ensures briefings occur to promote communication between shifts.Oversees training and ensures that team members have the knowledge to perform their duties and receive continuous learning opportunities to stay abreast of changes in technology and techniques.Assists in training related duties such as design and delivery of training programs, maintains training records, and monitors and evaluates programs.Assists with recruitment and selection of staff.Serves as a member of the Surveillance management team and keeps colleagues informed of matters such as special observation requests.Confers with Surveillance management team concerning operational deficiencies and areas in need of attention.Exhibits superb team leadership/development and partnering ability while working with department team members and other department staff.Assists internal and external auditors as well as representatives of the Tribal Government and Gaming Office as needed.Maintains an effective working relationship with Tribal Gaming, Compliance, and other areas.Promotes open lines of communication with the staff of other departments; serves as a liaison for the Surveillance Department.Oversees storage of Surveillance data and archived material including digital retention.Keeps abreast of relevant policies, procedures and strategies that best promote effective monitoring of Sol Casinos operations for the protection of property, people, and data.Responds to departmental needs on an "on-call" basis.Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Essential functions of the position:Must be able to work in a secured office environment, with internal/external team members.Must be able to read, write, and effectively communicate with all guests and team members in a positive and professional manner.Must be able to follow both verbal and written directions.Must be able to travel to other CDS properties, or any other events necessary for this specific role.Must have the ability to stand, or sit for an extended period of time.Must be able to reach, pull, kneel, squat, twist, and bend for duties.Must be able to watch monitors for an entire shift.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Must be able to operate office equipment, computers, telephones, and two-way radios. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Ability to monitor all table games activity to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.Ability to count cards and identify advantage play.Knowledge of the State gaming compact as well as applicable gaming laws, regulations, policies and procedures including Sol Casinos' internal controls, policies, and procedures.Knowledge of gambling and gaming practices including knowledge of applicable games and game procedure.Knowledge and familiarity with finance-related departments in casino.Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, leadership and coordination of people and resources.Knowledge of security and communication systems and equipment, such as fiber-based digital equipment, closed circuit television (CCTV), camera, monitors, two-way band radios, paging systems, circuit boards, processors, etc., including applications and programming.Knowledge of finance and human resources practices and principles.Knowledge of installation and maintenance of CCTV system, components and other audio and visual monitoring devices.Computer proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet applications.Strong organizational planning and time management skills.Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.Ability to produce reports that are organized, clear, and logical.Ability to effectively present information to constituents ranging from executive management to governmental agency representatives.Ability to provide leadership and develop team members.Ability to communicate and follow directions effectively.Ability to perform mathematical computations pertaining to the position.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and establish appropriate action plans. Minimum Qualifications:High school or General Equivalency Diploma AND three (3) years surveillance experience, including a minimum of one-year supervisory experience.Demonstrated track record of leadership and exceptional service to include training and development.Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software especially word processing, spreadsheets, casino systems (IGT), and e-mail.Working knowledge of audio-visual, technology-based equipment related to the job.Must be able to pass table games testing with a score of 90% or better.Must be able to obtain "card count" certification within four months of employment.Must have a valid Arizona driver's license.Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, and special events as needed.Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening in accordance with company policy.Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid gaming license/background check. Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.Surveillance experience in an Indian gaming environment.Three (3) years supervisory experience.Bilingual (English/Spanish). The Gaming Enterprise Division and the Tribal Enterprise Division (collectively Casino Del Sol) are divisions of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe. As a result, preferential hiring will go in this order: (1) Enrolled members of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe who meet the position's minimum qualifications; (2) Spouses and biological and adopted children of enrolled Pascua Yaqui Tribal members who meet the position's minimum qualifications; (3) Enrolled member of other Federal recognized Tribes who meet the position's minimum qualifications; (4) all others who meet the position's minimum qualifications.
