This is a contract position in Novi, MI.\nBase pay range $52.00/hr - $55.00/hr\nJob Summary Our client in Novi, MI is looking for a Validation Engineer - Range & Efficiency. This role focuses on maximizing range and energy efficiency for electric and hybrid vehicles, including setting efficiency targets, conducting simulations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate energy-saving features. The Range and Efficiency Engineer will work to improve aerodynamics, rolling resistance, and powertrain efficiency, and will integrate with the Energy Systems team to support SUV and Truck product offerings.\nResponsibilities Set and track range and efficiency targets for electric and hybrid powertrains, aligning performance with product requirements and customer expectations.\nConduct detailed simulations to optimize vehicle aerodynamics, rolling resistance, and powertrain efficiency using tools like MATLAB/Simulink.\nCollaborate with aerodynamics, thermal, and powertrain engineering teams to integrate energy-efficient technologies and design optimizations, including lightweight materials and regenerative braking systems.\nAnalyze vehicle designs for energy loss sources and implement design modifications to maximize range and minimize power consumption.\nCorrelate simulation results with real-world on-road data, refining models to improve predictive accuracy and ensure efficient performance under varying driving conditions.\nDocument findings and recommendations for range and efficiency improvements, providing actionable insights for future product iterations.\nDevelop methods for continuous improvement in vehicle energy efficiency, exploring advanced materials, aerodynamics enhancements, and power management strategies.\nConduct vehicle range tests in various environmental conditions to assess impact on battery efficiency and overall vehicle performance.\nQualifications Required: 3+ years of Range & Efficiency Engineering experience for EV or Hybrid vehicles.\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.\nExperience with energy and efficiency simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, GT-SUITE.\nStrong understanding of aerodynamics, rolling resistance, and their impact on electric and hybrid vehicle efficiency.\nFamiliarity with electric vehicle systems, such as battery management, powertrain control, and regenerative braking.\nNo third-party or C2C arrangements.\nAbout the role and location Resources are required to support on-site at the Innovation Center in Novi, Michigan full-time, or as needed.
