The position requires advanced technical expertise, strong judgment, and the ability to lead discipline efforts on small to mid-sized projects. Work is performed under general supervision and includes collaboration across multiple engineering disciplines.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nExecute full-scope electrical and instrumentation designs using advanced engineering techniques and analysis.\n\nDevelop conceptual layouts, preliminary designs, detailed calculations, sketches, and material take-offs appropriate to project phase and estimate level.\n\nProduce electrical deliverables including:\n\n15kV/5kV power system single-line diagrams and equipment specifications\n\nElectrical installation specifications\n\nMCC single lines, elementaries, and connection diagrams\n\nElectrical room layouts, cable schedules, grounding, lighting, power, and instrumentation plans\n\nControl panel layouts and installation details\n\nEnsure efficient material usage with emphasis on constructability and client expectations.\n\nVerify designs for code compliance, accuracy, and adherence to specifications and design standards.\n\nReview project scope, specifications, and design criteria at assignment and proactively communicate scope or design changes.\n\nCoordinate electrical/instrumentation activities with discipline leads and other engineering teams.\n\nServe as discipline lead on small to mid-sized projects as required.\n\nDevelop work-sharing packages and provide interoffice execution leadership.\n\nEstimate engineering hours, track progress, and assess quality of electrical/instrumentation work.\n\nSupport development of construction cost estimates, schedules, and man-hour budgets.\n\nProvide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers and designers.\n\nReview and check calculations and drawings completed by others.\n\nAssist designers with layout and detailing challenges by supplying clear sketches and direction.\n\nAdvise senior engineers on identified design or scope changes.\n\nCompile electrical and instrumentation bid packages for procurement and subcontract pricing.\n\nReview vendor drawings, fabrication drawings, and construction submittals for technical compliance.\n\nPerform field work to gather data, verify tie-ins, and support construction and startup activities.\n\nProvide onsite support during commissioning and startup phases.\n\nContribute to P&IDs related to measurement and control.\n\nDevelop control narratives and instrumentation specifications.\n\nSpecify instrumentation, analyzers, control systems, and actuated valves.\n\nSize control valves using appropriate software tools.\n\nApply ISA standards and best practices for instrumentation and control systems.\n\nIdeal Background\nEducation & Credentials\nBachelor or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university (required)\n\nExperience\n\n10+ years of industrial electrical and instrumentation engineering experience\n\nProven ability to act as Engineer of Record when required\n\nTechnical Skills\n\nStrong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)\n\nExperience with:\n\nLighting level calculations\n\nWire, conduit, and overcurrent protection sizing\n\nVoltage drop and short-circuit calculations\n\nCable tray and conduit routing and fill calculations\n\nMCC and substation loading analysis\n\nAbility to develop specifications for low- and medium-voltage equipment including MCCs, switchgear, motors, VFDs, and unit substations\n\nProficiency in developing installation documents based on vendor drawings\n\nFamiliarity with 15kV/5kV systems, equipment, and above/below-ground installation practices\n\nWorking knowledge of CAD software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, or both)\n\nProgramming experience with PLCs, HMIs, and/or DCS platforms is a plus\n\nProfessional Competencies\n\nStrong organizational skills with the ability to accurately estimate task completion\n\nClear understanding of schedule constraints and deliverable requirements\n\nAbility to lead small teams and execute within scope, schedule, and budget\n\nExcellent verbal, written, and presentation skills\n\nProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook\n\nEffective in virtual team environments and cross-office collaboration\n\nCapable of presenting Hargrove Engineers & Constructors services to clients\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\nAbility to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods as required by the role\n\nBenefits\nAs a 100% Teammate owned company, we proudly offer a comprehensive benefits package including paid holidays, personal paid time off, medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, 401(k), and other benefits to eligible Teammates.\n\nEqual Opportunity Employment Statement\nHargrove is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
