If you're passionate about finance, thrive in a rapidly changing environment, and are committed to continuous learning, this is the Finance role for you.Role OverviewAs a Finance Lead, you will be the strategic finance partner and trusted advisor to our Banking Product Line, which includes Shopify Balance, Credit, and Bill Pay. Your role is pivotal in providing strategic and operational insights, financial reporting, analysis, forecasting, planning, and executive decision support. You will drive strategic decision-making using actionable insights to foster growth and mitigate risks, empowering our merchants to grow their businesses. This role reports directly to the Head of FP&A, Financial Services.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Financial Leadership: Lead annual growth planning, long-term planning, and monthly/quarterly forecasting. Assist in developing operational targets and budgets for the Banking Product Line.Growth and Investment Analysis: Leading projects and developing strategic and financial analyses to assess new growth and investment opportunities, including new product launches, pricing, partnerships, or acquisitionsInsightful Reporting: Develop actionable management reporting, dashboards, and KPIs. Oversee monthly variance analysis and operating reviews to track business successOperational Support: Provide ongoing financial support to the Product Line, including understanding unit economics, tracking product adoption, and assessing A/B experimentsCulture Carrier: Partnering with top talent across finance & business to collectively maximize the impact on both our teams and our merchantsProcess Improvement: Using tools like SQL, Python or AI to improve business processes by automating repetitive manual tasksWhat you bring to the team:Extensive Industry Experience: Prior financial services, banking, FinTech experience is highly preferred. You’ve seen, been there, and done some of it, and can bring industry context and business partnering to the role.Deep Expertise: Deep expertise in financial modeling, strategic business case analysis, planning, and reporting.Exceptional Communication: Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable recommendations for diverse stakeholders.Proven Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, drive strategic initiatives, and deliver measurable results in a fast-paced, data-driven environment.Business Partnering: Exceptional business partnering ability with demonstrated prior experience as a finance leader for a senior business unit or product leader.Relevant Experience For The RoleMinimum 8+ years of experience in financial services, banking, fintech, or other SAAS-based business modelsStrong FP&A analytical capabilities - P&L and ad hoc business casing ROIVery strong soft skills and exec level decision-making influenceProven track record of driving significant impact in complex business situations.Experience launching and/or scaling new fintech product launches.Experience working closely with product management teams to assess new product launches, analyze market opportunities, prepare business cases, and evaluate pricing alternativesIf you are a fintech leader with a proven track record of success and a passion for driving impact in complex business environments, we want to hear from you.
