The team is also delivering important transportation and infrastructure improvements across Williams County, along with long-term engineering partnerships supporting communities like Ray, Arnegard, and Tioga.\nAs a leader within this multi-disciplinary office, you will have the opportunity to guide projects from initial concept through construction, helping communities solve real infrastructure challenges while strengthening relationships throughout Western North Dakota. This role blends technical design, project leadership, and client collaboration, allowing you to remain hands-on in engineering while mentoring team members and helping expand the firm’s presence in the region.\nAs a Senior Project Engineer, you will:\nLead the design and delivery of municipal, county, and transportation projects\nGuide multi-disciplinary teams through planning, design, and construction phases\nApply your technical expertise while remaining actively involved in design and problem solving\nMentor engineers and technical staff by providing direction and sharing expertise\nManage project scope, schedules, and budgets\nBuild strong relationships with local governments and regional partners\nSupport business development efforts through proposals, client meetings, and identifying new opportunities\nAt Interstate Engineering, employee ownership means we take pride in the work we do and the communities we serve. Our team is known for being reliable, approachable, and willing to go the extra mile and we’re looking for someone who wants to help continue building that reputation while shaping the future of Western North Dakota.\nKnowledge of the Following is Preferred:\nSite development\nKnowledge of state and federal codes and regulatory agency requirements\nDesign and rehabilitation of water distribution systems\nDesign and rehabilitation of sewage collection systems\nPreparation of Preliminary Engineering Reports for water and wastewater facilities\nExperience with municipal, county, and DOT facilities\nUnderstanding of municipal, county, and state governments\nUnderstanding of department of transportation design and construction process\nInterest in transportation, hydraulics, and municipal engineering\nCommercial site development plans\nSubdivisions\nStormwater collection and stormwater detention/retention/reuse systems\nBasic surveying\nRequired Qualifications:\nBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field\nLicensed Professional Engineer in North Dakota or ability to obtain within one year\nTechnical knowledge of engineering principles and practices\nExperience with project management, proposal development, and marketing\nThe capability of supervising, mentoring, and evaluating staff\nExceptional communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team atmosphere is vital\nGood driving record and valid driver’s license.\nAbility to use civil engineering software such as AutoCAD\nProficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.\nAbout Us\nEmbracing a collaborative team approach, Interstate Engineering focuses on building for tomorrow.
