Art Therapist
Primary Purpose and Function Provides expressive art group therapies in a model compatible with Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Support milieu setting/activities and coordinate the development and operations support of all Expressive Arts components of THIRA's programming Required Qualifications: Master's degree in Art Therapy, Expressive Arts Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Counseling, Psychology, or related therapy fieldExperience facilitating Expressive Therapy groups and developing curriculum/activitiesDemonstrated competency in the use of Microsoft Office and the ability to use various software programsExperience and literacy with Electronic Medical Records systemsSuccessfully pass a comprehensive criminal background check (Federal and state)Ability to work evenings, nights, weekends & holidays as neededPerform other duties as assigned Preferred QualificationsRegistered with the Art Therapy Credentials Boards (ATCB), or license/credential eligibleCognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and/or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) training and experienceExperience working in PHP, IOP, or IPU environmentValid WA state driver's license and satisfactory driving recordAbility to transport patients in company vehicles; successfully pass THIRA's Driver Assessment Addendum A: Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsLead and oversee all patient expressive therapies groupsAssist the PHP Manager with the coordination and development of the expressive therapy programs for IOP and PHP as neededServe as point person for THIRA staff regarding Expressive Therapies operational questions and issuesMaintain all current patients' expressive art creations; create art portfolios for patients as neededTrack and maintain expressive arts activity inventory; order supplies as needed and track in budgetPrepare and clean up all expressive therapy spaces in adherence to the infection prevention and control guidelines as well as other cleanliness/safety standardsSupport crisis intervention services inclusive of de-escalating dysregulated patients and mediating conflicts between patientsUtilize Electronic Medical Records to complete clinical documentation in a timely mannerProvide supportive and DBT-skill based milieu intervention to patients, promoting application and generalization of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skillsCollaborate with multidisciplinary team including other mental health therapists, prescribing clinicians, registered dieticians (RD), and nursing staff, regarding treatment planning, assessing progress, and discharge planning Addendum B: General Responsibilities & Expectations Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsSupport and maintain policies regarding professional ethics, including appropriate boundaries and client confidentiality; monitor documents according to company and HIPAA policies.Report any immediate safety hazards to appropriate supervisory personnel or maintenance personnel.Adhere to WA State Requirements for Mandated ReportingDemonstrate awareness and respect for diverse clients and staffAdheres to THIRA Health's compliance standards, Ethics and Code of Conduct Policy and Conflict of Interest PolicyAttend and actively participate in all required THIRA meetings, training, and all other coverage, duties, and special projects as assignedDemonstrated ability to exercise discretion and judgement with sensitive and confidential matters, including PII, PHI, and HIPAA requirementsDemonstrated ability to multi-taskDemonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with limited supervisionMaintain focus on THIRA's core principles, priorities, and patient-centered cultureEffectively communicate with all levels of staff, visitors, healthcare professionals, marketers, and the public in a professional, sensitive, and interpersonal manner Working Environment Work is performed primarily indoors, with both artificial and natural lighting. Equipment includes standard office equipment, i.e., computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, printer, and scanner. Physical demands include sitting, walking, standing, bending over, repetitive use of hands, and lifting up to 25lbs. Position requires close contact with all THIRA Health staff and mental health patients. Hours and days can vary within a Saturday through Friday work week.
