This is an on-site position in Chicago and is suited to attorneys with strong hands-on litigation experience who can quickly step into an active caseload and manage matters with minimal supervision. The Litigation Associate will support all stages of litigation, from initial case assessment and pre-litigation matters through discovery, motion practice, settlement, and trial preparation.Key ResponsibilitiesDraft, review, and respond to subpoenas, demand letters, discovery requests, and litigation correspondence.Conduct legal research and prepare legal memoranda, pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.Assist with EEOC matters, including reviewing agency correspondence, preparing responses, and supporting investigations and related proceedings.Manage and coordinate discovery, including document review, requests for production, interrogatories, requests for admission, and discovery responses.Assist with deposition preparation and, where appropriate, participate in depositions.Prepare and respond to motions, including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, and other procedural and substantive motions.Communicate with opposing counsel, courts, agencies, clients, and other relevant parties.Assist with case strategy, factual development, and preparation of matters for hearings, mediation, arbitration, and trial.Draft pleadings, notices, affidavits, declarations, and other court filings.Conduct factual investigations and review relevant documents, records, and evidence.Track case deadlines, court requirements, and procedural obligations to ensure matters progress efficiently.Assist with settlement negotiations, mediation, and other dispute-resolution processes.Provide general litigation support and handle other duties typically associated with an active litigation practice.Qualifications & ExperienceJuris Doctor (JD) and active Illinois Bar admission required.Prior experience practicing as a Litigation Associate in a law firm or legal department.Strong hands-on experience with civil litigation and discovery.Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery responses, demand letters, and other litigation documents.Experience handling or supporting EEOC matters is highly desirable.Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and organizational skills.Ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines effectively.Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Comfortable working in a fast-paced, on-site environment in Chicago.Ideal CandidateThe ideal candidate is a hands-on litigation attorney who can hit the ground running, take ownership of assigned matters, and provide immediate support across a broad range of litigation activities. Candidates should be comfortable with the day-to-day demands of litigation, including subpoenas, demand letters, EEOC matters, discovery, pleadings, motions, legal research, client communications, and general case management.
