Our client is seeking a Proofer / Copy Editor to support a large scale enterprise intranet transformation initiative. This role will serve as a critical quality assurance checkpoint within the content creation and publishing process, ensuring employee-facing content is accurate, accessible, consistent, and ready for publication.This position goes beyond traditional proofreading. The ideal candidate will review content for grammar, tone, usability, formatting, accessibility, metadata accuracy, and adherence to content governance standards. They will work closely with Content Strategists, Content Operations Specialists, and project stakeholders to ensure all content meets organizational standards before publication.The ideal candidate combines exceptional attention to detail with a strong understanding of digital content, user experience principles, and editorial best practices.You Will:Review digital content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, tone, clarity, and consistencyEnsure content aligns with editorial guidelines, brand standards, and user experience best practicesIdentify broken links, outdated references, duplicate content, and formatting inconsistenciesValidate metadata, tags, ownership fields, and other required CMS elementsPerform basic accessibility reviews including heading structure, link text, image alt text, and content scannabilityVerify published content matches approved source content and stakeholder feedbackDocument defects, inconsistencies, and recommended correctionsPartner with Content Operations teams to resolve publishing and content quality issuesSupport pre-publication and post-publication quality assurance reviewsMaintain and contribute to editorial standards, QA processes, and content governance proceduresYou Have:5-8 years of experience in proofreading, copy editing, content QA, communications, or digital content reviewExceptional command of grammar, punctuation, spelling, style, and plain language writing principlesStrong attention to detail and ability to identify inconsistencies across large content setsExperience reviewing website, intranet, knowledge base, or digital workplace contentAbility to follow editorial standards, QA checklists, and content governance requirementsExperience working within a CMS or digital publishing environmentFamiliarity with accessibility standards including WCAG 2.2 AAStrong documentation and communication skillsExperience reviewing metadata, tagging structures, and content publishing elements preferredExperience supporting content migrations, content refreshes, or content transformation initiatives preferredLogistics:Start Date/Duration: June 2026 through December 2026 with potential extensionHours/Week: 40 Hours/WeekOnsite/Offsite: Remote considered, hybrid preferred for candidates local to ChicagoWork Schedule: Standard U.S. business hoursTravel: No travel requiredLaptop/Software Requirements: Client-provided equipmentBackground Check: YesDrug Screen: Yes (Non DOT 5 Panel)Hourly Pay Rate: $30-$35/Hour DOE
