Our apartment units are scattered across Hayward, Castro Valley and San Leandro, CA. Our aim is to assist young adults with housing and the skills to live independently in a safe, clean and functional environment.\nPOSITION OVERVIEW\nThe Maintenance Worker's general duties consist of the setting up and maintaining of the apartments for our housing program with attention to detail towards cleanliness, and functional condition, and communication with all stakeholders.\nDUTIES/RESPONSABILITIES/EXPECTATIONS\nRoutine repairs consisting of repairs to furniture, doors, locks, windows, screens, tiles, interior/ exterior walls and trim; repairs to plumbing fixtures, water leaks, valves, clogged toilets/drains, and garbage disposals; repairs to light fixtures, switches, receptacles, and some appliance repair such as vacuums, washers, dryers, dishwashers, etc.\nRoutine trash management that could include dump runs from move outs or trash overflow. Cleaning up around Trash areas and resorting and breaking down boxes.\nChange locks, make keys, and maintain the organization and storage of keys to apartments.\nMove furniture, personal belongings, packing and moving boxes.\nPick-up and delivery of donations as requested.\nComplete a partial or full turnover of an apartment in a timely manner.\nCommunicate with team maintenance/safety issues you see in and around the units and SBS housing properties.\nCommunicate with Facilities Supervisor on realistic expectations regarding task deadlines.\nRequirements:\nQUALIFICATIONS\nMust have demonstrated skills and knowledge in the areas of building and apartment maintenance and repair the use of necessary tools and equipment.\nMust be stable, mature, service-oriented, and able to relate well with staff and young adults.\nMust be able to read and speak English.\nMust be able to communicate with iPhone technology (Texting, Facetime, Camera).\nMust be flexible in accomplishing tasks as required and have the ability to work unsupervised.\nMust be organized and able to respond quickly in emergency situations.\nMust have experience in safe work practices, including PPE and the understanding of material safety data sheets. (SDS)\nMust possess a valid California Driver’s License and be insurable on agency insurance.\nFulfillment of TB test, fingerprinting and state clearance, and any other mandatory state/federal requirements.\nActive CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to be certified.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in high places and outside in all weather conditions.
