The senior operations manager oversees all aspects of operation functions at the site, including managing and leading a team of operations and area managers. The role involves coaching and mentoring the team to meet performance objectives, building positive employee relations, and developing leadership bench strength within the fulfillment center.\nResponsibilities Drive creation of quality initiatives, process change initiatives, and other Lean initiatives to enable the functional area and the fulfillment center to meet and exceed the business plan.\nEnsure overall safety, quality, and performance, and customer experience of either inbound or outbound operations.\nSet and clarify requirements and expectations for operations and area managers, measure performance, provide feedback, and hold managers accountable for their performance and that of their departments.\nLeverage operations and area managers by sourcing and nurturing ideas and integrating them into improvement plans for the functional area.\nTake proactive steps to ensure best practices are shared across all departments, shifts, and across the network.\nWork closely with support staff (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety, IT, and other senior operations managers) to build and secure support and resources for projects and initiatives in their area, and provide needed support for other staff initiatives.\nJob Physical Requirements Lift and move totes up to 49 pounds each.\nRegular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head.\nWalk frequently in the fulfillment center and around the area; facilities are over a quarter mile in length.\nStand and/or walk an average of 5 miles daily.\nAbility to work in construction/distribution environments that may be noisy, unlit, unheated, and not air‑conditioned.\nAccess all areas of the building (ascending and descending ladders, stairs, gangways safely and without limitation).\nQualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent.\n7+ years direct management experience, including a salaried workforce, in a manufacturing, production or distribution environment.\nPrior experience with the full staffing lifecycle, including interviewing, hiring, performance management, promotions and termination.\nPrior experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques.\nInterest in long‑term career development through assignments in multiple fulfillment centers across the nation.\nDegree in Engineering, Operations or related field and MBA preferred.\nExperience with a contingent workforce during peak seasons.\nAbility to handle changing priorities and use good judgment in stressful situations.\nAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.\nOur inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
