This individual will be tasked to help build and maintain backend systems that power our websites, eCommerce platforms, and payment applications.\nYou’ll work with a modern tech stack, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and play a key role in creating scalable, secure, high-performance applications.\nResponsibilities:\nBuild and maintain backend applications and REST APIs using Java, Spring Boot, and related frameworks.\nDevelop and support microservices to ensure scalability and high availability.\nIntegrate with third-party and internal APIs.\nWork with SQL databases (MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and use Hibernate/JPA for ORM.\nDeploy and manage applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift.\nConfigure and manage Tomcat and other Java app servers.\nWork with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines (Tekton).\nUse SonarQube for code quality and test coverage.\nSupport GraphQL integrations (Hasura).\nImplement asynchronous messaging (ActiveMQ, Kafka, etc.).\nWork with Kong or similar API gateways to manage and secure API traffic.\nEnsure performance, security, and reliability standards are met.\nParticipate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and documentation.\nTroubleshoot production issues and help maintain system uptime.\nStay current on new tech and suggest improvements.\nWork with QA on testing and ensuring systems function as expected.\nCollaborate with Product teams to meet sprint deadlines (Agile/Scrum).\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience).\n5–10 years of experience in Java development.\nStrong skills in Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and microservices.\nExperience with Hibernate/JPA and SQL databases.\nHands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.\nExperience building and using REST APIs.\nFamiliarity with API gateways (Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway, etc.).\nExperience with CI/CD tools (Tekton, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.).\nExperience with SonarQube or similar tools.\nUnderstanding of messaging systems (ActiveMQ, Kafka, RabbitMQ).\nStrong grasp of OOP, design patterns, and enterprise best practices.\nExperience writing unit and integration tests.\nWhy Join Us\nWork on high-impact systems used across the company.\nModern tech stack: Spring Boot, Kubernetes, Kong, Tekton, and more.\nStartup-style environment backed by a stable organization.\nOpportunities to lead, grow, and learn.\nA culture built on collaboration, experimentation, and getting things done.\n\nCompensation Range – $120,000 – $130,000 USD\nLocation(s) & Work Arrangement – Mount Vernon, Baltimore / Hybrid\n\nWhat We Offer\nWe offer a wide variety of benefits, programs, and services to our employees, including:\nMedical, vision, and dental insurance plans\n401(k) plan with employer matching\nGenerous vacation time and paid holidays\nCasual dress code\nHighly flexible environment\nEqual Opportunity Employer\nThis employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
