(GovCloud may NOT be accessed from outside of the United States).\n\nCandidates MUST be US Citizens at time of application for this role.\n\nKey job responsibilities\n\nLead and supervise a team of Data Center Managers (3-9 area and front-line managers) and 100-150 hourly associates within Regional Data Centers.\nAttainment of organizational performance goals and objectives relating to safety, security, availability, scaling, and efficiency in support of our data center operations.\nCarry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures.\nAccountability for meeting and exceeding operational goals.\nStrategic planning and forecasting; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; resolve problems; and address staffing needs.\nObsess over team learning and development, both from a technical/functional and soft skills (critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and adaptability) development perspective including mentoring and training.\nDevelop, improve, and share operational best practices across the globe.\nHiring, managing, and developing the operations management team including data center managers and data center operations technicians.\nPlanning and executing the Infrastructure Operations component of new AWS data center build-outs, new colocation build-outs, AWS data center expansions, and colocation expansions, including the network and server rack infrastructure to facilitate the daily operations.\nExperience in successful insourcing and/or outsourcing specific task balancing internal skillsets with frugality.\nContinuous improvement of operational processes, procedures, methods, and tools.\n\nA day in the life\nA typical day at AWS is that there is no typical day, the business is constantly changing. This position is both working with global partners and managing local leaders so spending time between both spaces daily is a must. A leader in this space has the daily flexibility to understand what is most important at that moment and flex in and out of those meetings.
