Carrier Sales Representative
Job Description
As a Carrier Sales Representative, you will work directly with trucking companies to build relationships, negotiate rates, and secure capacity for customer freight. You'll leverage our existing carrier network while developing new relationships to move freight efficiently and profitably.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, negotiating, and solving problems in a fast-paced environment. Success in this position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to build trust with diverse personalities. We are looking for a motivated, goal-oriented individual who can prioritize effectively, work collaboratively, and contribute to individual, team, and company success.Responsibilities:Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective carrier partnersNegotiate competitive freight rates while ensuring profitable outcomesMake outbound calls to develop carrier partnerships and secure capacity for customer freightManage inbound communications from carriers, customers, and internal team membersPrioritize and coordinate daily freight coverage activities in a fast-paced environmentVerify and onboard new carrier partners according to company qualification standardsMonitor freight movements and proactively communicate updates or issuesCollaborate with Account Managers to ensure exceptional customer service and successful load executionAnalyze market conditions and carrier capacity to make informed pricing and coverage decisionsSupport team goals through effective communication, relationship management, and problem-solvingMaintain accurate records and respond promptly to emails and phone callsQualifications:Sales, recruiting, account management, customer service, or other relationship-building experience preferredExperience making outbound and inbound phone callsStrong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skillsAbility to build and maintain professional relationships with carriers, customers, and team membersGoal-oriented with a desire to achieve individual and team performance objectivesOrganized and effective in a fast-paced environment with changing prioritiesStrong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAttention to detail and accuracyAbility to multitask and navigate multiple systems in a Windows-based environmentSelf-motivated and able to work independently while contributing to a team environmentFreight, transportation, logistics, or brokerage experience is a plus, but not required
