You will work closely with team members, collaborating with clients, architects, engineers, and other consultants. The role requires a combination of creative design thinking, technical proficiency, and an understanding of building codes and construction methods.\nIn addition to design of new structures, you’ll also be required to conduct field evaluations of industrial and commercial structures, analyze data, develop models, conduct calculations, and develop engineered repair/rehabilitation/replacement plans for existing structures and those we are expanding.\nPrimary Job Responsibilities anticipated:\n· Perform field evaluation of existing structures\nPerform site visits to collect information needed for engineering design.\nAssist in the development of structural designs from initial concepts through to construction documentation.\n· Design repair/rehabilitation and/or replacement plans\n· Develop calculations and analytical models in hot rolled and cold formed steel, concrete, masonry and wood.\nDesign for concrete shallow foundations, deep foundations, industrial steel structures (beams, columns, bracing, connections etc.), and other structures expected in an industrial or commercial facility.\nDesign of reinforcement for existing buildings and structures including conventional and pre-engineered steel building structures as well as wood and steel joists or trusses.\nCollaborate with the design team to refine designs and meet client expectations.\nProduce accurate structural drawings for alterations, additions or new construction using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).\nEnsure compliance with relevant building codes and regulations.\nCoordinate with other design professionals (e.g., internal and external architects, engineers, and consultants) to ensure design integration and resolve design issues.\nAttend client meetings and assist in communication between the design team and clients.\n· Specify materials, write reports\n· Technical support for and quality control of structural construction\nStay up-to-date with current trends, materials, and technologies.\nConduct research to resolve technical issues and integrate new solutions into the design process.\nCollaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including architects, engineers, and consultants, internal & external, to ensure successful project execution.\nWork with outside structural consultants as needed or as work load requires.\nProvide support in coordination meetings, presenting design ideas, and addressing feedback.\nProvide mentorship and guidance to junior staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture\nOversee and serve as Engineer of Record for firm structural engineering portions of projects.\nOther miscellaneous tasks, as needed by various project requirements.\nThe successful candidate will have a proven track record of working independently, with a high level of initiative.\nRequired Qualifications\nEducation: Minimum Bachelor of Science in Civil / Structural Engineering\nExperience: 5-8 yrs\nStructuralEngineering (SE) License in Illinois, or ability to obtain through reciprocity within one year of start date. Licensure in other states is a plus.\nFamiliarity with AutoCAD important. Revit is a plus.\nExperience coordinating engineering work and interfacing with other disciplines and clients.\nExperience using structural software such as RISA 3D, STAAD and Enercalc is preferred.\nSolid verbal and written communication skills required.\nProficiency in MS Office software.\nProficiency in Bluebeam Revu for markups, document management, and collaboration\nKnowledge of ACI 318, AISC, ASCE-7, IBC required.\nAbility to work and thrive in a team environment.\nWorking Conditions:\nCasual office environment with occasional site visits.\nCollaborative team environment working with mechanical & electrical engineers and architects.\n· Client-facing role with opportunities for business development and expanding client relationships.\nThe anticipated salary range for this position is $90k - $130k per year, plus a comprehensive benefits package. The final salary will be determined based on the candidate's experience, qualifications, and skills. This is a good faith estimate and subject to negotiation.
