PSPD supports the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and CBP critical missions, specifically screening and processing travelers at the ports of entry (POEs) into the United States.\r\nIn this hands-on position, you will work collaboratively to design, build, deliver, enhance, and support highly available, scalable, real-time data persistence. You will exercise your judgment in determining and recommending the best designs based on customer business objectives, timelines and other resource constraints. You will participate in major deliverables of data solutions during the software development life cycle including scope and work estimation, design, implementation, and support.\r\nThis position REQUIRES the candidate to be in Ashburn, VA, 2 times a week\r\nPrimary Responsibilities\r\nPerforms technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and support ability and effectiveness analyzes.\r\nProactively monitors database health, optimizes SQL code, and addresses performance bottlenecks.\r\nDesigns and implements database schemas and structures according to project requirements.\r\nDevelops and maintains documentation for database environments, including data standards and procedures.\r\nImplements security measures, set sup user permissions, and ensures compliance with data protection policies.\r\nPlans for storage requirements and database growth, and scale infrastructure as needed.\r\nMaintains data accuracy and ensures maximum uptime, and may require some on-call support.\r\nCollaborates with developers to optimize queries, stored procedures, and database design for applications.\r\nMust be a self-starter, strong leader, and the ability to work independently with little supervision.\r\nMinimum Qualifications\r\nBS/BA degree and 12+ years of prior relevant DBA experience or Masters with 10+ years of prior relevant DBA experience; OR 4 years of experience in lieu of degree.\r\n4+ years' experience tuning Aurora PostgreSQL database performance and PL/pgSQL scripts to optimize performance.\r\n4+ years' experience as an AWS Aurora PostgreSQL DBA in a 24x7 environment managing multiple databases of over 70TB.\r\nIndividual must have at least 4+ years' experience as an Oracle DBA in a 24x7 environment supporting databases of over 200TB.\r\nProficiency in tuning Oracle Databases and troubleshooting performance issues.\r\nAble to support on-call schedule and incident resolution.\r\nProficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).\r\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\r\nU.S. Citizen.\r\nMust be able to maintain and obtain a CBP Background Investigation prior to start.\r\nPreferred Qualifications\r\nMigration of Oracle to Aurora PostgreSQL with over 70TB migrating from Oracle to Aurora.\r\nExperience using Generative AI to tune SQL statements.\r\nExperience with CBP.\r\nJava Experience.\r\nExperience with other AWS data related services.\r\nExperience with any of the following: Struts, Hibernate, Java, JSF, Swing, JavaScript, Bootstrap, Angular.\r\nExperience with CI/CD, SecDevOps, Git source code repository (GitLab, GitHub).\r\nCommitment to Non-Discrimination\r\nAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to sex, race, ethnicity, age, national origin, citizenship, religion, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, family structure, marital status, ancestry, domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran or military status, or any other basis prohibited by law.
