{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"a18f00a3cf38a02dfe8bc16c","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/a18f00a3cf38a02dfe8bc16c","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/a18f00a3cf38a02dfe8bc16c","title":"Engineer III System Modeling","description":"Key Responsibilities\n\nBuild, update, and maintain transmission and generation models supporting reliability, economic, and policy studies through collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders—including Transmission Owners, Generator Owners, Balancing Authorities, RTOs, and PCs.\n\nContribute to and support ERAG MMWG model development, data management, case preparation, and reporting along with modeling work associated with planning‑related NERC compliance filings (MOD, TPL), ensuring adherence to OATT/Tariff and FERC/NERC requirements.\n\nProvide technical engineering support for internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate modeling data submissions.\n\nExamine complex system data, evaluate modeling risks, and identify engineering solutions.\n\nMake recommendations affecting the design, scheduling, and completion of projects that may affect multiple departments or the division.\n\nCoordinate on complex projects requiring collaboration across multiple departments and divisions.\n\nRequired Education & Experience\n\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical and Computer Engineering.\n\nThree years related energy industry experience (five preferred) with Transmission Owners, Generator Owners, Balancing Authorities, RTOs, or Planning Coordinators.\n\nPower system modeling experience, including power flow and dynamic simulation tools such as PSS®E, MUST, TARA, TSAT.\n\nExposure to power system planning, bulk electric system operations, substation design, or protection/control engineering.\n\nExperience supporting FERC/NERC compliance evidence.\n\nTechnical Skills\n\nPower system modeling; power flow, voltage, and dynamic analysis.\n\nTools: Siemens PSS/E, GE PSLF, Powertech PSA tools, Siemens MUST, TARA, VSAT, TSAT, PSCAD, Siemens MOD, MISO Model Manager.\n\nDatabase experience (Oracle, HABITAT).\n\nUnderstanding of NERC & FERC regulatory requirements.\n\nUNIX, Windows, Linux administration.\n\nPython, Java, SQL, PL/SQL, and scripting languages.\n\nWhat Success Looks Like\nWithin one year, the successful candidate consistently delivers high‑quality modeling outputs, integrates seamlessly with evolving processes, leads core modeling work and projects, and demonstrates growth in both technical depth and understanding of MISO’s strategic priorities. They collaborate effectively across teams, champion process improvements, and contribute to the organization’s culture of curiosity and continuous advancement.\n\nCompensation\nBase salary compensation range being offered for this role is $109,000-134,000 USD annually. Salary may vary for individuals based on location, competencies, education, certifications, and experience.
