Associate Food Chemist

Associate Food ChemistAs a member of the Consumer Product Analysis (CPA) group, you will be responsible for carrying out flavor research activities involving diverse sample processing techniques. You will be collecting and interpreting data from analytical instruments, with a focus on GC-MS, HPLC, and LCMS. The role involves developing expertise to understand the key components, processes, and interactions that drive taste performance for a variety of consumer and natural products.Location: Union Beach, New Jersey (Onsite)Key ResponsibilitiesExecute complex technical work under the general direction of technical management related to the isolation and concentration of flavor compounds from food and beverage products.Acquire, analyze, and develop skills in interpreting chromatographic data (GC-MS, HPLC, LCMS).Document and record analytical data from flavor research projects.Maintain the laboratory and equipment.Required QualificationsEducation: A Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field is required.Experience: Must have experience in the food and beverage industry. Experience in a wet chemistry lab is also required.Technical Skills: Competency with current computing and information technology tools is necessary. Hands-on experience with gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC-MS), HPLC, and LCMS, as well as sample preparation techniques such as solvent extractions (LLE), distillations, and headspace collections (SPME) is needed.Preferred QualificationsA Master of Science degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or a related field is preferred.Familiarity and interest in the flavor and fragrance industry are considered a plus.A demonstrated drive to take on complex technical problems.Comments/Special InstructionsResume and interview screening are required.
