In this player-coach role, you will lead the execution of our data strategy: prioritize the team's work, develop its people, and contribute directly to technical work across data architecture, analytics, and reporting. You will help build scalable data structures, establish checks and balances that improve data reliability, and create processes that support analytics, automation, and AI.\n\nWhat You'll Do\n\nCoach, support, and distribute work across a team of four data professionals.\n\nPrioritize incoming work, manage competing requests, and work with the hiring manager to escalate and resolve conflicts.\n\nBalance team leadership with hands-on technical contribution; the role is expected to be primarily coaching and coordination.\n\nBuild and maintain a centralized data platform that brings together NetSuite, Azure SQL, Power BI, and other enterprise systems, including data from newly acquired businesses.\n\nLead data warehousing, ETL/ELT, semantic modeling, and governance practices that deliver scalable, reliable data assets.\n\nEstablish practices for data quality, lineage, consistency, monitoring, and continuous improvement.\n\nGuide the development of Power BI semantic models, dashboards, and executive reporting.\n\nPartner with executives and functional leaders to translate strategic goals into measurable plans, KPIs, and insight frameworks.\n\nChampion data accessibility and literacy across the organization.\n\nEvaluate emerging technologies and help the team use AI thoughtfully to accelerate insight delivery.\n\nWhat You'll Bring\n\n7+ years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or business intelligence, including at least two years leading or managing a team.\n\nExperience prioritizing work and helping a technical team navigate competing requests.\n\nHands-on experience with SQL Server or Azure SQL, data warehousing concepts, and modern data architecture.\n\nStrong business intelligence and data modeling skills. Power BI experience is preferred; Tableau or comparable business intelligence experience is transferable.\n\nAbility to lead technical and analytical people while balancing coaching, execution, and strategic direction.\n\nAbility to advise senior leaders and translate complex data concepts into clear recommendations.\n\nExperience improving data quality and building data accessibility across systems.\n\nAn interest in using AI thoughtfully to improve data and analytics work.\n\nNice to Have\n\nExperience with NetSuite data structures and integration patterns, including Celigo-based ETL.\n\nExperience with cloud-native data platforms or Lakehouse architectures.\n\nExperience preparing data environments for AI, such as semantic layers, centralized knowledge hubs, or documented data dictionaries.\n\nExperience integrating data from acquired businesses into a common reporting platform.\n\nAbility to influence stakeholders and drive adoption of data-informed decision-making.\n\nLocation and Compensation\n\nThis is a full-time, hybrid role based in Salt Lake City, Utah, with approximately three days per week in the office.
