OTS offers temporary, temp to hire, direct hire and emergency on-call opportunities including great benefits.\r\nTITLE: System Operator II – Water/Wastewater Utility\r\nLOCATION: Boone County, IL\r\nSALARY: Up to $45/hr\r\nSCHEDULE: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm CT + rotating weekly on-call\r\nOVERVIEW:\r\nUnder the direction of the Field Supervisor, this person will be responsible for performing tasks related to the installation, operation, and maintenance of equipment for our water & wastewater treatment facilities in the area; this person will also assist with customer service as well.\r\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:\r\nOperate / maintain the facilities & equipment related to the wastewater activated sludge treatment, lagoons, lift stations, and collection systems.\r\nOperate / maintain the facilities & equipment related to the wastewater and water treatment plants, well facilities, pumping, and storage facilities (as needed).\r\nOperate / maintain the vehicles & equipment used in the water and wastewater facilities.\r\nPerform / record inspections & tests on the systems and facilities operations; this involves reviewing the associated data.\r\nCollect, analyze, and record water & wastewater samples for regulatory compliance as well as process control monitoring for proper operation of the systems.\r\nPrepare reports required by the Company, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency [IEPA], the Illinois Commerce Commission, or other jurisdictional entities.\r\nRespond to customer service, water distribution, and/or collection system work orders.\r\nAssists with other tasks or projects as assigned.\r\nQUALIFICATIONS:\r\nPossess a High School Diploma (or Equivalent).\r\nProfessional experience working with industrial mechanical systems and/or pumps is preferred.\r\nMust possess a valid U.S. Driver's Operator's License; CDL is a plus!\r\nClass II Wastewater License.\r\nClass B Water License.\r\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:\r\nExcellent written and verbal communications skills; this person will need to be able to communicate effectively (clearly, concisely, and professionally) with internal customers.\r\nStrong customer service skills.\r\nAbility to work on multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.\r\nAbility to readily read, understand, and accurately follow operating instructions (both written & verbal).\r\nPossess the mathematical ability to perform calculations which determine various ratios, dosages, and volumetric calculations that are required for the operation of the Wastewater Treatment Plants and Water Systems.\r\nComputer literate with computer database tools as well as the ability to operate plant processes through computer-controlled equipment.\r\nWORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:\r\nMay be subject to extreme temperatures, noise, wet and/or humid conditions, mechanical, electrical, gas exposure hazards, fumes, dusts, mists, gases and /or poor ventilation atmospheric conditions\r\nMust be able to lift and move equipment in excess of 50lbs and the ability to work in confined spaces; a lift test will be required at part of employment for this position.\r\nWorking conditions include travel to work sites and/or other constituents.\r\nCompany vehicle is provided for business purposes only.\r\nThis position participates in a weekly on-call rotating schedule to adequately staff a 24 hour/7-day operation.\r\nMust be able to pass fit testing.\r\nMUST HAVES FOR ROLE:\r\nUtility Pants: Employees must wear durable utility pants suitable for the work environment.\r\nSafety Shoes: Steel-toed or other appropriate safety shoes are mandatory to protect against workplace hazards.\r\nCandidates must consent to and pass a background check and drug screening as part of the hiring process.\r\nMust be legally authorized to work in the United States.\r\nOperational Technical Services, (OTS), is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
