The Converting Operator is responsible for safely operating and monitoring converting and packaging equipment to produce high-quality paper products that meet customer specifications.\n\nThis is a hands-on manufacturing position where you will work closely with other operators, maintenance, quality, and production teams. You’ll receive training on our equipment and processes while developing valuable technical and machine-operation skills.\n\n*What You’ll Do*\n\n* Safely set up, operate, monitor, and adjust converting and packaging equipment.\n* Work as part of a team to meet production goals, quality standards, and customer specifications.\n* Operate and assist with rewinding, packaging, log saws, and related downstream equipment.\n* Program and monitor computerized equipment and operating panels.\n* Calculate core sizes, roll diameters, required footage, and perforation specifications.\n* Perform equipment adjustments and changeovers to maintain efficient production.\n* Collaborate with Rapid Changeover Technicians (RCO Techs) during changeovers and adjustments.\n* Adjust embossing units and core chucks as needed.\n* Perform quality checks and document production and quality information.\n* Identify and report equipment, quality, or production issues to supervision or maintenance.\n* Assist maintenance and other production personnel with troubleshooting and equipment needs.\n* Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, safety procedures, and company policies.\n* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.\n* Complete required paperwork, reports, and documentation accurately.\n* Participate in team meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.\n* Perform other related duties as assigned.\n\n*What We’re Looking For*\n\n* High school diploma or GED preferred; equivalent education and experience may be considered.\n* Manufacturing, machine operation, or production experience preferred, but *not required—we will train the right candidate.*\n* Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn equipment operation.\n* Ability to read and understand safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance instructions, and quality procedures.\n* Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals.\n* Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, calculators, and other common measurement equipment.\n* Ability to work effectively in a team environment.\n* Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality products.\n* Ability to prioritize tasks and respond appropriately to changing production needs.\n* Dependable attendance and willingness to work a *12-hour rotating shift*.\n\n*Physical Requirements*\n\nThis is an active manufacturing position that requires the ability to:\n\n* Stand and walk for extended periods.\n* Frequently handle and move materials weighing up to approximately 50 lbs.\n* Occasionally lift heavier materials with assistance or proper equipment.\n* Reach, bend, squat, kneel, and perform repetitive hand and finger movements.\n* Work around operating manufacturing equipment and varying temperatures.\n* Wear required PPE, including safety shoes, eye protection, and high-visibility clothing.\n\n*Why Join Sofidel?*\n\nAt Sofidel, you’ll join a team that values *safety, quality, teamwork, and continuous improvement*.
