Summary
The Theory Teammate is a cross-trained, global store teammate responsible for supporting customer experience, inventory execution, intake operations (where applicable), and overall store standards. This role is expected to work flexibly across all areas of the store, delivering a consistent BUD Experience through knowledgeable service, accurate execution, and strong teamwork. Theory Teammates operate with a high level of accountability, follow all procedures and compliance requirements, and support store leadership in achieving performance goals aligned with the Strains of Success.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Experience & Sales Execution
Function in customer experience, delivering welcoming, knowledgeable, and world-class service to every customer
Support all selling and customer-facing tasks, including product education, recommendations, and transaction execution
Drive strong customer engagement that supports conversion, attachment, and loyalty
Operate POS systems accurately to ensure compliant and efficient transactions
Reinforce service standards and Theory values through professional conduct and teamwork
Respond to customer questions and needs with care, urgency, and attention to detail
Intake & Customer Services Support (Where applicable by state)
Function as an intake teammate, serving as one of the first points of contact for customers entering the store
Check and validate customer IDs in accordance with all state regulations and company procedures
Ensure every customer meets legal requirements to enter the building and purchase cannabis products
Provide clear direction and support to customers to ensure a smooth and welcoming entry experience
Inventory & Back-of-House Support
Support accurate inventory processing, scanning, and product movement throughout the store.
Assist with vault-to-floor stock movement to ensure product availability supports sales execution
Help receive deliveries, process transfers, and complete intake tasks accurately and on time
Execute METRC-related tasks and inventory procedures as trained and assigned
Follow standards and procedures for all inventory-related systems and workflows
Identify inventory discrepancies during daily tasks and escalate issues promptly
Compliance & Operational Standards
Ensure compliance with all state and local cannabis regulations, including the ME Office of Cannabis Policy
Follow all Theory Wellness systems, procedures, and policies across customer experience, inventory, and intake functions
Support accurate daily recordkeeping related to sales, inventory, and compliance tasks
Execute side duties, including cleaning, organization, cash handling, and store upkeep to maintain a safe and professional environment
Teamwork & Performance Support
Drive adherence to Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to sales, service, and execution
Provide strong peer support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and accountable team culture
Support store initiatives, promotions, and operational priorities as directed by leadership
Deliver world-class internal customer service by supporting teammates and leadership
Other Duties
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned in a fast-paced, evolving retail and regulatory environment

Requirements
Previous retail, hospitality, or customer service experience preferred
Strong interest in cannabis, wellness, and customer experience
Ability to work across multiple areas of the store with flexibility and accuracy
Comfortable using POS systems and basic retail technology
Strong attention to detail and commitment to compliance
Ability to follow procedures, accept feedback, and work collaboratively
Reliable, professional, and accountable with a positive attitude
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
Must be at least 21 years of age and compliant with all state-mandated employment requirements.
Must have no drug-related felony convictions and be able to pass a comprehensive background check.
