Hospice - Full Time - Director of Nursing (DON)
Stafford, TX, 77477Job Summary:The Director of Nurses, Director of Clinical Services, Director of Professional Services, or a similar title, is a registered professional nurse who ensures quality of patient care in the home. Primary function is for the overall administration of the clinical departments and monitoring of appropriate staffing and productivity. Coordinates care with the Interdisciplinary Group/Team, patient, family and referring agency. Monitors and analyzes QAPI issues and directs clinical staff with regard to the Hospice policies and procedures. May also be called Director of Nurses, Director of Clinical Services, Director of Professional Services, or a similar title.Essential Functions:Maintains an ongoing liaison with the Governing Body, staff members, and the community.Manages the daily operations of the Hospice. The Administrator or Alternate Administrator will be available during the Hospice’s operating hours.Ensures that a Clinical Manager is available during all operating hours.Organizes and directs the Hospice’s ongoing functions.Ensures the Hospice, including any branches, are in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulatory agencies related to the health and safety of patients. Takes action on reports and recommendations of any authorized planning, regulatory, or inspection agencies.Ensures education and availability of applicable regulations to all the Hospice staff, including contractual providers. Ensures completion, maintenance, and submission of required reports.Ensures that the organization employs or contracts with qualified personnel.Ensures the development of personnel qualifications and policies.Ensures adequate staff education and evaluations.Ensures the accuracy of public information materials and activities.Implements an effective budgeting and accounting system that promotes the health and safety of the Hospice’s patients.Job Qualifications:Education: Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate or Baccalaureate School of Nursing.Licensure: Current state license as a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or in accordance with the Board of Nurse Examiners rules for Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC), current Driver’s License.Experience: Minimum one year (two years for ACHC Accreditation) of hospice or home care experience as a registered nurse obtained within the last 36 months, experience in hospice preferred. Management experience preferred.Skills: Nursing skills as defined as generally accepted standards of practice. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively. Demonstrates proven decision-making skills. If required to make visits, proof of current CPR certification. Must read, write and comprehend English.
