Volunteer: Design a Research, Insights, and Co-Creation Strategy for Refugee & Migration Nonprofit
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.Creshendo is an early stage nonprofit working with migrant and refugee communities across integration, storytelling, and economic mobility. We are building systems that are shaped by the communities we serve, not assumptions made from the outside. We are seeking a strategic research and program design advisor to help us build the foundation for our Research and Analysis function. Right now, we have strong ideas, committed volunteers, and early program data. What we need is structure. We want to understand how other refugee and migrant serving organizations have used co-creation in their programs, and then translate those lessons into a practical model for Creshendo. Over a 6 to 8 week project, the volunteer will help us: * Research examples of co-creation in refugee, migrant, or community based programs * Identify what makes these models effective, ethical, and scalable * Recommend how Creshendo can apply co-creation across our programs and internal operations * Help clarify the structure of our Research and Analysis team * Define the role of a future team lead or manager * Recommend workflows for research, insights, editorial planning, and publishing * Help us think through how research should inform program design, partnerships, and public thought leadership The goal is not a long academic report. We need a clear, practical framework that helps our startup nonprofit make better decisions and build with more intention.Creshendo exists to help migrant and refugee communities shape their own futures. To do that well, we need to keep learning from the people we serve and from the strongest models in the field. This project will help us build a research function that strengthens our programs, informs our partnerships, and turns what we are learning into public insights. Your work will help us move from scattered knowledge to a clear system for learning, improving, and sharing what works. You will work with Creshendo’s Executive Director and key team leads. We will provide background on our programs, current team structure, early research ideas, and examples of the kinds of insights we want to produce. We are a fast moving, volunteer led team, so we value clarity, practicality, and direct communication. We are looking for someone who can bring both rigor and imagination. Someone who can see patterns, ask sharp questions, and help turn complexity into a usable system.Creshendo Mission: Creshendo’s mission is to empower displaced populations by fostering their integration and self-reliance. Through specialized programs and support services, we equip them with the tools, knowledge, and resources to navigate new environments, advocate for their needs, and achieve their aspirations.
