Head Start Teacher
PCDC is seeking qualified candidates with experience in Early Childhood Education for the upcoming 2024-2025 School Year. Our mission is to nurture and educate children and their families. We provide opportunities for education, parenting support, and resources to families in our communities.
Responsibilities:
As the Lead Teacher specializing in children 3 to 5 years of age, you will play a pivotal role in laying the foundation for lifelong learning. You'll deliver high-quality services that promote social, emotional, nutritional and physical development.
Implement activities and the curriculum to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the classroom.
Implement Early Childhood Development Plan in accordance with approved policies/procedures, using Teaching Strategies, CLASS training materials, and Al’s Pals, for the age/ability of the class, including individual and group activities, outdoor activities, and field trips.
Plans and conducts daily activities to develop children intellectually, physically, emotionally and socially, according to individual stages of development; develops daily lesson plans; plans and implements adopted curriculum.
Responsible for three Parent/Teacher conferences. Provide parent with written evaluation. Follow up with parents who are not able to attend. Make an effort to meet with all parents.
Set up and conduct a minimum of two home visits per child/family per year. The Lead Teacher will work in conjunction with the Family Services Manager for additional follow up visits and/or support services which may be identified or needed.
Ensures that classroom has adequate equipment and activities.
Responsible for the upkeep and inventory of educational materials and equipment.
Facilitate weekly planning sessions with the Teacher Assistant.
Ensures that equipment and the facility are clean, well-maintained and safe at all times. Be familiar with the emergency procedures.
Assocaites Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. One year supervisory/management experience preferred. Two years’ experience in childcare.
