The position coordinates and supervises on-site program activities, provides direct\nservices, and helps ensure that screenings, refraction assessments, eyeglass selection,\nordering, and referral coordination are completed accurately and efficiently. Working closely\nwith program staff, contractors, and community partners, the Program Assistants are\nexpected to promote a safe, supportive, and organized service environment. The role\nadvances Helen Keller Intl's mission while demonstrating the organization's core values of\ncourage, compassion, integrity, and rigor.\n\nManagement/ Functional Relationships\nThe Program Assistant reports to the Program Specialist. The Program Assistant will be\nexpected to be in regular communication with other Vision Program staff, consultants, and\ncontractors and maintain consistent service standards. The position also collaborates\nexternally with school administrators and personnel, community-based organizations, host-\nsite representatives, families and guardians, opticians, optometrists, and other vision-care\npartners.\n\nApplication Deadline: posted until positions filled\n\nKey Responsibilities/ Specific Tasks\nDirect Services\n Travel to schools and/or other host locations in target communities with materials needed\n\nto conduct program activities.\n Partner with representatives at host location to set up space to ensure safe and smooth\n\noperations. Break down and pack up at close of day.\n Conduct on-site program processes such as vision screening, refraction assessment,\n\neyeglass selection and ordering, and completion of all program documentation per\nprogram guidelines.\n\n Perform accurate entry-level data entry, including inputting and maintaining student/client\nrecords to support\n\n Promote follow-up eye care by conducting educational information sessions to program\nparticipants and families/guardians regarding the screening assessment, vision health,\npotential vision difficulties, and treatments.\n\n Cultivate and maintain relationships with key program partners to assist in gathering\ninformation and collecting data on program participants.\n\n Collect and prepare summary of results from impact surveys and share results with\nsupervisor.\n\nAdministrative Duties\n Assure understanding and adherence to HIPAA policy and procedures (national\n\nstandards to protect sensitive patient health information).\n Follow Helen Keller’s procedures for maintaining all program files, records and documents\n\nto ensure HIPAA compliance.\n\nOther Duties\nThis job announcement is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive list of activities,\nduties or responsibilities for the position.
