Join us and, together, we’ll advance your career.\n\nResponsibilities:\n\nTHE ROLE:\n\nWe are seeking an Engineering Lab Supervisor to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams supporting advanced server system testing and validation. This is an opportunity to work hands-on with early engineering samples and cutting-edge CPU, GPU, networking, and server technologies before they reach customers or the broader market.\n\nIn this role, you will oversee engineering activities across five specialized laboratories supporting environmental, thermal, mechanical, failure analysis, transportation, and EMI/EMC testing. You will lead a team of engineers from multiple technical disciplines while partnering with lab operations, warehouse, facilities, and site leadership to ensure testing is completed safely, efficiently, and successfully.\n\nThis is a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment where engineering projects and experiments may operate continuously. The role is primarily Monday through Friday during standard business hours; however, occasional after-hours or weekend support may be needed to coordinate the response to critical testing or equipment issues.\n\nTHE PERSON:\n\nThe successful candidate is a self-motivated and solutions-oriented leader who takes ownership of projects and can operate with limited oversight. You are comfortable making decisions, managing competing priorities, and bringing forward potential solutions when challenges arise.\n\nYou are an effective communicator who enjoys working across engineering disciplines and building strong relationships with technical teams, customers, and operational partners. You do not need to be an expert in every laboratory discipline, but you should be curious, adaptable, and willing to learn from subject-matter experts.\n\nThe ideal candidate is comfortable working in a dynamic environment, knows when to escalate an issue, and can remain organized and responsive when supporting time-sensitive engineering activities.\n\nKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:\n\nLead and support a multidisciplinary team of approximately seven to eight engineers responsible for specialized laboratory testing and engineering activities.\nOversee daily engineering operations across multiple laboratories, including thermal and environmental testing, mechanical shock and vibration testing, failure analysis, and EMI/EMC testing.\nCoordinate server and rack-level testing activities, schedules, resources, equipment maintenance, and customer deliverables.\nPartner with laboratory, warehouse, operations, and site managers to secure the people, equipment, space, and logistical support needed for successful testing.\nMonitor active experiments and testing programs, respond to technical issues, and coordinate troubleshooting, triage, root-cause analysis, and customer reporting.\nEnsure engineers are supported, trained, and equipped to execute testing safely and effectively.\nReview upcoming products and technology needs to ensure the laboratories have the capabilities and equipment necessary to support future testing.\nHelp improve laboratory processes, scheduling, workflows, and operational efficiency, including the thoughtful use of AI-enabled tools and agents.\nDuring the first 30 days, learn the laboratory environment, equipment, team structure, key projects, and partner organizations.\nWithin approximately 60 days, begin taking ownership of laboratory operations, schedules, projects, and stakeholder relationships.\nWithin approximately 90 days, operate with increasing independence while continuing to develop familiarity with less-frequent testing scenarios and specialized equipment.\nProvide occasional after-hours or weekend coordination when critical engineering experiments or laboratory systems require attention.\nSupport occasional business travel, generally less than 10%, for relevant events or collaboration with other locations.\n\nPREFERRED EXPERIENCE:\n\nExperience leading or supervising engineering teams in a laboratory, server, hardware, systems, or product-validation environment.\nKnowledge of server systems, racks, board-level hardware, and system-level engineering concepts.\nFamiliarity with server hardware debugging, technical triage, and root-cause analysis.\nUnderstanding of Linux operating environments.\nExposure to server cooling methods, including air cooling, liquid cooling, or immersion cooling.\nExperience supporting engineering testing, laboratory operations, equipment maintenance, or product validation.\nFamiliarity with one or more specialized testing areas, such as thermal and environmental testing, shock and vibration, failure analysis, or EMI/EMC testing.\nAbility to coordinate projects and resources across engineering, laboratory operations, warehousing, and other site functions.\nExperience supporting customer-facing engineering activities, test scheduling, technical reporting, or workflow management.\nInterest in using AI-enabled tools, agents, or automation to improve process management, scheduling, workflows, and operational efficiency.\nOpenness to learning technical disciplines outside of one’s primary area of expertise.\n\nACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:\n\nBachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.\n\nLOCATION: Secaucus, New Jersey\n\nThis role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.\n\n#LI-CS1\n\nQualifications:\n\nBenefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.\n\nAMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
