This role focuses on writing reliable, maintainable code, collaborating with stakeholders to clarify requirements, and improving the quality and performance of systems over time.WHY THIS ROLE EXISTSThe Python Engineer role exists to deliver working software in Python that is production-ready: correct, secure, observable enough to support troubleshooting, and maintainable by others. You will help translate requirements into practical implementations and reduce operational risk by improving code quality and engineering discipline.What You Will Own Design, implement, test, and maintain Python application components and services. Translate product or operational requirements into clear technical tasks and working software. Troubleshoot bugs and production issues, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes. Improve code quality through reviews, refactoring, and pragmatic engineering standards (readability, modularity, testability). Work with cross-functional partners (such as product, QA, data, or operations) to align on expected behavior, edge cases, and delivery timelines. Contribute to documentation for code behavior, setup, and operational handoffs as needed.What Success Looks Like Python deliverables are shipped with high correctness and low defect leakage. Changes are understandable and maintainable, with appropriate tests and clear structure. Production issues are diagnosed efficiently, and fixes prevent repeat incidents. Performance and reliability improve over time through targeted technical improvements. Stakeholders have clear visibility into scope, trade-offs, and delivery progress.Must-have Capabilities Strong proficiency in Python for building production-grade software. Ability to design and implement maintainable modules/services with clear interfaces. Solid debugging and root-cause analysis skills across application code and runtime behavior. Working knowledge of testing practices (unit and integration testing concepts) and code review discipline. Understanding of common software engineering concerns: data validation, error handling, performance considerations, and secure coding basics. Ability to collaborate on requirements, communicate trade-offs, and deliver to agreed scope.Preferred Or Trainable Capabilities Experience improving legacy codebases through refactoring and incremental modernization.
