Senior Staff Accountant (On-site)

Ziegler Companies is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with full-cycle accounting and will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and preparing reports. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a collaborative environment while ensuring compliance and efficiency across all accounting functions.Responsibilities:Compile and analyze financial information to prepare general ledger entries, and document business transactions for Ziegler and/or related entitiesStrong understanding of GAAP and other accounting standards with ability to account for complex transactions, such as deferred revenue, LIFO inventory valuation, lease accounting, interest rate swap accounting, capitalizing versus expensing, and prepaid assetsMaintain knowledge of software applications to ensure efficient accounting systemsEnsure lease accounting compliance under ASC 842, including new leases, modifications, and terminationsEnsure revenue accounting compliance under ASC 606Oversee intercompany eliminationsDrive to improve financial reporting processesDetermine and post monthly accrualsEnsure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulationsEstablish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and accounting control proceduresAssist with monthly financial reporting documents such as income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statementAssist with month end and year end closeReconcile various balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and identify discrepanciesAssist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with accounting standardsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance5+ years of related work experienceCPA certification preferredStrong analytical/critical thinking skillsSelf-starter with ability to prioritize tasksEffective communication skillsPersonal Attributes: Attention to Detail, Commitment / Dependability, Integrity, Problem Solving, EfficiencyStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, exposure to Power BI and Power QueryThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed; it is not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties and skills required for the position. Pay range may vary by 10% depending upon the applicant's location.
