At Excelitas Technologies you are how we EXCEL.\n\nWe are presently seeking a Controls Engineer that be responsible for maintaining automated manufacturing tools, identifying opportunities for enhanced operational efficiency, and implementation of new automated manufacturing tools supporting optical fabrication, coating, and assembly activities.\n\nMain responsibilities:\n\nSupport of current implementations of automated manufacturing equipment deployed, ensuring user training, preventative maintenance, and machine uptime meet site needs\n\nEvaluate current manufacturing practices, identifying opportunities leveraging automation to improve repeatability, reduce cycle times, improve yields, and reduce costs\n\nDevelop business cases and justifications to drive capital spending on automation efforts\n\nIdentify and foster relationships with suppliers to deploy automation and provide ongoing service to ensure overall equipment utilization remains high throughout the useful life\n\nEnsure systems comply with safety and quality standards, working closely with site EHS team to conform with ISO14001 and ISO45001 and the Quality team to conform to ISO9001\n\nAdhere to project timelines and budgets ensuring scope, milestones, deliverables, and resources are aligned and understood at project inception\n\nDevelop and drive Installation, Operational, and Production Qualification (IQOQPQ) activities in conjunction with Engineering, Safety, and Quality\n\nRequirements:\n\nBS in Engineering, Physics, or other equivalent technical field required.\n\nMS in Engineering, Physics, or applicable field preferred.\n\n8+ years of industry experience\n\nSix sigma green or black belt a plus.\n\nStrong communication skills and ability to coordinate with and influence members of cross-functional teams coupled with the ability to collaborate with others in a team environment.\n\nIdentification of and business case development of automation equipment\n\nFamiliarity with robotics, motions controls, and vision systems with application in a high-mix manufacturing environment\n\nProficiency with PLC programming\n\nAbility to read and interpret drawings and pertinent specification related to coated precision optics and provide detailed technical feedback regarding appropriate coating designs, technical feasibility, and manufacturability.\n\nExcellent quantitative skills including ability to analyze complex data and apply quality tools to highlight opportunities and track improvement.\n\nProficient in use of Microsoft Office, statistical tools, ERP, and databases such as product lifecycle management tools and custom SQL applications.\n\nAbility to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
