Ophthalmic Technician (experience preferred)
Established LASIK and Cataract eye surgery practice in San Francisco seeks an
Ophthalmic Technician (experience preferred) to consult and assist doctors with new patients seeking surgery. You must have excellent communication skills.
This is a full-time salaried position. You will be responsible for guiding patients through the clinic or surgical process, ensuring a smooth and confident experience from initial contact through post-operative care. This is a dynamic position, for a skilled individual with exceptional communication skills. This role acts as a vital link between the patient, the eye care team, the surgical facility, and other healthcare providers involved in the patient's care. An Ophthalmic Technician (experience preferred) requires a dedication to exceptional patient-centered care and the ability to manage a variety of administrative and communication tasks effectively. We will train the right candidate in the realm of becoming an Ophthalmic Technician and assisting the doctors with procedures. The position requires a educated, mature professional skilled in patient care and business development. Marketing experience is beneficial. The ideal candidate must have attention to detail and task completion, an awareness of process, and be very mindful and sensitive when dealing with patients. You must possess communication skills in person, writing, and over the phone.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
Surgical Scheduling and Coordination:
Schedule surgeries, pre-operative appointments, and post-operative appointments in coordination with the patient and/or their caregiver, referring doctors, and the surgical facility.
Patient Communication and Education:
Serve as the primary point of contact for patients and their families, addressing inquiries and concerns regarding surgery and related matters.
Communicate clearly and effectively with patients, their families, physicians, office staff, and external providers.
Assist doctors in laser vision correction procedures
Administrative and Financial Responsibilities:
Obtain and verify patient demographic and insurance information, ensuring accuracy and completeness for new and returning patients.
Check patient charts for insurance benefits and counsel patients regarding fees and financing options.
Follow up on and collect surgery payments.
Enter surgery and post-operative appointments into the scheduling system accurately and efficiently.
Team Collaboration and Support:
Actively participate in the development of a healthy work environment and support colleagues.
Assist with other administrative duties as assigned.
Collaborate closely with surgeons and the clinical team to ensure outstanding care delivery.
Healthcare Experience is a Plus.
