{"schemaVersion":"jobsearcher.job.v1","id":"9e2fbfc6fbc569f2e0d059bc","url":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/9e2fbfc6fbc569f2e0d059bc","canonicalUrl":"https://jobsearcher.com/jobs/9e2fbfc6fbc569f2e0d059bc","title":"R&D Chemist","description":"SUMMARY / OBJECTIVE\nCreate new innovative formulas based on benchmark product or brief, enhance existing formulas and procedures, and convert customer supplied formulas to meet company's format and processing capabilities.\n\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS\n\nResearch and develop innovative cosmetic products based on current industry trends, benchmark products, customer brief or other product concepts.\n\nReverse-engineer current marketed products.\n\nCreate formulas for new product submissions.\n\nAssist in testing and approval of raw materials, finished and in-process adjustments & line samples.\n\nAssist in continually interfacing and communicating with other departments such as QC Laboratory, Quality Assurance, Customer Service, Production and other department personnel as needed to ensure production of top-quality finished goods.\n\nConduct process engineering and scaling up of formulas.\n\nEnhance and/or modify existing formulas and procedures to fit the needs of the company.\n\nEnsure the integrity and quality of customer's formulations.\n\nAssist in troubleshooting production problems.\n\nLearn the newest technologies and ingredients offered in the field by meeting with vendors and attending seminars.\n\nMonitor first 3 production batches.\n\nMay meet with customers at the discretion of the R&D Manager and Senior Chemist.\n\nResearch and understand the function of each ingredient within a formula.\n\nPromote compliance with Bright Innovation Laboratories policies, procedures, quality standards and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) as well as safety and environmental regulations. Participate, as required, in safety and GMP training sessions, and other company training sessions.\n\nCOMPETENCIES\n\nCapable of working effectively as part of a multifunctional team.\n\nAbility to perform work with minimal supervision and guidance.\n\nAbility to multi-task and must be a self-starter.\n\nFlexibility with schedule including shift work.\n\nOvertime may be required with very little notice.\n\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.\n\nWORK ENVIRONMENT\n\nThe work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
