PsychiatristThe Psychiatrist conducts crisis interventions, face-to-face interviews, and clinical evaluations with mentally ill patient-inmates/youths, including the ability to navigate multi-tiered housing units.Assessing the needs of inmates/wards through initial mental health evaluations, incorporating criminal, psychiatric, and substance abuse case histories.Performing suicide risk evaluations with clinical rigor, including reviews, protocols application, and proper documentation.Contributing to comprehensive treatment planning through participation in Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) meetings.Ensuring thorough record-keeping by documenting all care provided, including face-to-face contacts and IDTT meetings.Monitoring inmate/ward progress using structured progress notes.Conducting mental status exams (MSE) to evaluate mental health status during clinical interviews.Reviewing and diagnosing psychiatric patients to determine treatment effectiveness and appropriateness.The Psychiatrist provides clinical consultation to psychiatric staff on complex cases.Prescribing medication as appropriate, following formulary guidelines or obtaining necessary approvals.Determining and prescribing changes in treatment based on ongoing assessment.Adhering to mandated reporting requirements for California Psychiatrists.Developing therapeutic relationships with patients' families and caretakers.Collaborating with primary care medicine to address co-occurring medical conditions.Conducting clinical rounds and reviewing patient progress.Serving periodically as psychiatrist-of-the-day for on-call duties during weekends and off-hours.The Psychiatrist maintains order and supervising the conduct of persons committed to the correctional facility.Analyzing data from audits to ensure program compliance and identify areas for improvement.Providing input and assisting in implementing new treatment programs as directed.Utilizing partial telemedicine for conducting appointments electronically from the provider's office.Psychiatrist - RequirementsMust have an MD/DO degree.Must have a minimum of twelve continuous months of experience within the last three years, performing services similar in scope to those defined herein.
