Test Development Engineer (Turbomachinery)

TEST DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER (TURBOMACHINERY)Indianapolis, IN or Miami, FLROLE OVERVIEWWe are seeking a Test Development Engineer to support engine and component testing within the engineering organization. This role will be responsible for owning experimental testing capability, including test design, data acquisition, instrumentation, and troubleshooting across engine development programs. The engineer will work closely with design, assembly, and test teams to develop and execute test plans, capture high-quality data, and ensure reliable validation of engine components and systems. RESPONSIBILITIES• Develop and execute test plans, procedures, and acceptance criteria for component and system-level testing.• Design and implement test setups, including instrumentation, sensors, and data acquisition systems.• Support a range of testing activities, including structural, thermal, performance, and dynamic measurements.• Participate directly in test execution across internal test cells and external facilities.• Configure and operate data acquisition systems (LabVIEW, NI DAQ, or equivalent).• Implement instrumentation strategies for pressure, temperature, strain, and other dynamic measurements.• Ensure accurate signal capture, proper grounding, and mitigation of electrical interference.• Acquire, process, and analyze test data to generate clear engineering insights.• Correlate test results with expected performance and identify anomalies.• Produce technical reports and communicate findings to engineering teams.REQUIREMENTS• Owns Hardware Testing End-to-End: Hands-on experience executing hardware tests from setup and instrumentation through analysis and reporting. • Strong DAQ Systems Experience: Proficient with LabVIEW, NI DAQ, or equivalent high-speed data acquisition platforms. • Deep Instrumentation Knowledge: Skilled with strain gages, pressure transducers, thermocouples, signal conditioning, and dynamic measurements. • Troubleshoots Complex Test Problems: Able to diagnose signal noise, grounding issues, and data inconsistencies in demanding test environments. • Relevant Engineering Background: 5+ years in hardware testing, experimental engineering, aerospace, turbomachinery, or similar industries. • Gas Turbine / Aerospace Exposure: Experience supporting engine testing or other high-performance rotating equipment environments. • Structured Testing Mindset: Familiar with DOE, validation testing, and disciplined test development methodologies.COMPENSATIONA meaningful compensation package will be developed for the successful candidate that includes a base salary plus performance-based bonus.To apply, please submit your resume and cover letter, preferably in MS Word format, to Derek Bush dbush@harvardsearch.com.
