Preconstruction Engineer
The Preconstruction Engineer is an innovative thinker who supports project pursuits by developing early-stage structural concepts, evaluating design efficiency, and preparing technical solutions that align with cost, schedule, and performance objectives. Project pursuits are supported in conjunction with Preconstruction Managers by developing both product-based and semi-custom solutions for external clients. This role also supports the review, negotiation, and execution of project contracts by providing technical input, scope clarity, and risk identification during pursuit and award phases. Working closely with internal Preconstruction Management, Business Development, Estimating, and Engineering teams, this role helps translate client needs and conceptual designs into feasible, prefabricated building solutions.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential functions.Exercise a high level of professionalism and confidentiality when working with staff, projects and proprietary information.Support project pursuits by developing preliminary structural concepts and prefabricated building solutions aligned with Clark Pacific’s systems, manufacturing capabilities, and delivery strategies.Assist in evaluating technical feasibility, constructability, schedule impacts, code compliance, risk, and design optimization for proposed solutions during early design phases.Support the contract review, negotiation, and execution process by providing technical input related to qualifications, assumptions, and scope definition, and by assisting Preconstruction Managers in identifying and resolving technical and commercial risk during pursuit and award phases.Develop gravity and lateral system concepts for semi-custom and project-specific structures, with consideration of seismic force resisting systems.Accompany Business Development and Sales associates to client-facing engagements and support Preconstruction Managers with schematic layouts, framing concepts, preliminary calculations, engineering sketches, and technical exhibits for proposals and presentations.Ensure the timely delivery of pursuit-level schematics, narratives, value packages, technical content, milestone schedules, etc.Coordinate with internal engineering, manufacturing, and construction teams to ensure proposed solutions are aligned with fabrication, transportation, and erection considerations.Lead with a spirit of collaboration by securing buy-in from internal and external stakeholders through effective communication and relationships.Develop a culture of creativity and accountability within project teams by solving problems in new ways, maintaining organizational commitments, establishing effective review cadence, and working in an agile, adaptive manner that promotes initiative, ownership, and continuous improvement.Challenge and voice relevant concerns in a constructive manner; coach and teach others on the team to engage constructively in meetings and encourage vibrant discourse.Other duties as assigned.Education And ExperienceBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) is required and Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering (or related field) is preferred.Registered Structural Engineer in the State of California (or the ability to obtain within 3 years) is required.Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience is required.Core ValuesDetermination: Meet challenges head onInnovation: Always look for betterWell-Being: Seek the success, health, and happiness of allBenefitsCompetitive salary paid weeklyMedical, Dental, and Vision insurance, including Kaiser and VSP optionsMedical FSA and Dependent Care FSAEmployer-paid life insuranceVoluntary ancillary benefits including Accident, Critical Illness, and Whole Life insurance401(k) matching 100 percent of the first 3 percent, then 50 percent of the next 2 percentBenefits are subject to a waiting period.Interested?
