You can learn more about our Company, Culture and Values here: https://careers.evercommerce.com/us/en\nEverCommerce is looking for a Staff Software Engineer to provide technical leadership, architecture guidance, and hands-on development across enterprise integration, AWS microservices, Workato automation, and AI-enabled solutions.\nThis role will act as a dev lead, solution architect, and senior hands-on engineer, helping the team design scalable solutions, improve delivery quality, and move high-impact automation initiatives from requirements to production.\nResponsibilities:\nLead technical design and development for enterprise integration and automation initiatives.\nArchitect AWS-based microservices, APIs, event-driven flows, and secure integration patterns.\nProvide hands-on coding support across backend services, APIs, databases, and automation workflows.\nGuide developers through design reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, and production readiness.\nPartner with business and technical stakeholders to clarify requirements and translate them into technical solutions.\nHelp design and implement AI / agentic automation use cases across business functions.\nEstablish engineering best practices for SDLC, documentation, testing, observability, security, and release management.\nTroubleshoot production issues and drive root cause analysis and long-term fixes.\nSkills and Experience needed for success in this role:\nStrong software engineering background with hands-on backend development experience.\nExperience designing and building solutions on AWS Cloud.\nStrong knowledge of REST APIs, microservices, databases, authentication, and integration patterns.\nExperience with automation platforms such as Workato or similar iPaaS tools.\nExperience with AWS Bedrock\nAbility to lead technical design discussions and mentor engineers.\nStrong problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.\nPractical understanding of SDLC, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.\nPreferred Skills\nExperience with AI automation, AI agents, LLMs, RAG, or agentic workflows.\nExperience with AWS Lambda, API Gateway, Secrets Manager, SQS/SNS/EventBridge, CloudWatch, and IAM.\nExperience with security, compliance, SOX controls, and audit-ready engineering practices.\nSuccess Profile\nThe ideal candidate is a strong technical leader who can design, build, troubleshoot, and guide others. They should be comfortable operating in ambiguity, improving process maturity, and helping the team deliver secure, scalable, and business-focused technology solutions.\nWhere:\nThe EverCommerce team is distributed globally, with teams in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Jordan, New Zealand, and Australia. With a widely distributed team, we are used to working remotely across different time zones. This role can be based anywhere in the United States or Canada – if you’re close to one of our offices, we can set you up in-office or you can work 100% remotely.
