Our mission is to protect underground infrastructure, safeguard communities, and deliver unmatched precision in subsurface mapping.\nPosition Summary\nAs part of the GridHawk Holdings I.T. organization, the Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines and integration processes that enable the organization to collect, store, and analyze data across multiple platforms. This position will play a critical role in connecting to core application systems using APIs, data streaming, direct SQL access, log shipping, and other industry-standard methods to bring that data into the company’s enterprise data lake, data warehouse, and data lakehouse environments hosted in Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, AWS, and Azure.\nThe Data Engineer will collaborate closely with the Data Analytics team to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of data systems that power business insights and reporting across all GridHawk Holdings subsidiaries.\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows to extract, transform, and load data from multiple source systems.\nCreate integrations with key operational applications using APIs, data streaming, direct SQL connections, and log shipping.\nManage data ingestion processes using tools such as Airbyte, Fivetran, or similar data integration solutions.\nDevelop and optimize data models and transformations using DBT and other modern data frameworks.\nBuild and maintain data environments in Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, and AWS Glue.\nWork closely with the Data Analytics team to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and readiness for business intelligence and reporting use cases.\nMaintain documentation for data sources, pipeline designs, data models, and process automation.\nImplement data governance and security practices in collaboration with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure teams.\nTroubleshoot and resolve data pipeline issues and performance bottlenecks.\nContinuously evaluate and implement new technologies and methods to improve data reliability and efficiency.\nEducation and Experience\nBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field preferred.\n3–7 years of hands-on experience in data engineering, ETL/ELT development, or database integration roles.\nEquivalent experience may offset formal education requirements.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nProficiency in SQL and at least one programming/scripting language (Python preferred).\nStrong experience with Snowflake, DBT, Airbyte, and Microsoft SQL Server.\nFamiliarity with Azure Data Factory, AWS Glue, or other cloud-based ETL tools.\nUnderstanding of data warehouse and data lakehouse architectures.\nExperience with API integration, JSON, and RESTful data exchange.\nKnowledge of data modeling, schema design, and metadata management.\nFamiliarity with version control (Git) and CI/CD deployment practices.\nExperience with Microsoft Fabric and Power BI preferred.\nExcellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams.\nPhysical Demands and Work Environment\nProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.\nMinimal physical exertion required.\nWork is performed primarily in a remote/ work from home environment with occasional in-office days usually once a quarter.\nDisclaimer\nThis job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities required of the employee.
