You should be able to prioritize tasks efficiently, communicate effectively with onsite teams and management, and maintain productivity without sacrificing quality, while focusing on curb appeal improvements and cost-effective in-house execution.Job Type: Full-TimeCompensation: $31-$33/hrHere are some things that will make you successful:3+ years maintenance, construction, landscaping, or handyman experience preferredWorking knowledge of drywall, paint, and general repair workAbility to learn and grow into broader maintenance skill setOwn basic hand and power toolsAbility to travel regularly across Midwest portfolioStrong work ethic and ability to work in a team environmentValid driver's license preferredWhat You'll Be DoingThe Roving Construction Laborer is part of a 2-person mobile maintenance team responsible for hands-on property improvement work across a Midwest multifamily portfolio. This role supports both preventative and corrective maintenance with a strong focus on property appearance, curb appeal, and efficient execution of assigned tasks.Technicians travel with the team between properties (including IL, WI, MI, and NE) and will work closely with the team lead.Core Responsibilities Include:Support daily field operations as part of a 2-person roaming maintenance crewWork in coordination with Supervisor to maximize efficiency and complete assigned scopesExecute hands-on maintenance and property improvement work, including:Drywall patching, sanding, prep, and finishing supportInterior and exterior painting supportCarpentry support (rot, door repairs, fencing/deck repairs, cabinet installation, trim work assistance)Landscaping, trimming, curb appeal projects, and seasonal cleanupUnit turns (cleaning, paint touch-ups, basic repairs)Trash-outs and unit cleanoutsMinor plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance repairs (based on skill level)Flooring installation support (plank and similar materials)Common area and exterior cleanup and improvement workAssist in completing full property work scopes efficiently, typically one site at a timeMaintain clean, safe, and organized work areas at all timesProperly use and care for personal tools and company-provided equipmentFollow direction from Supervisor and Area Maintenance ManagerSupport identification of maintenance and life-safety issues while on-siteContribute to minimizing vendor usage by assisting with in-house completion of workWhere you will work:This position will require you to work on-site at our properties (IL, WI, MI, NE)Travel Requirements:Extensive travel throughout our Midwest portfolio, including up to 50% overnight travelWhy work for Bender Companies:90% employer-paid coverage of base Medical Insurance plan75% employer-paid coverage of base Dental Insurance plan75% employer-paid coverage of Vision Insurance plan401K with company match11 Paid Holidays2 weeks of annual PTO16 hours of personal timeExciting company growth and potential for career advancementSupportive TeamMission focused on providing quality workforce housingBackground checks will be performed on all qualified applicants.Equal opportunity employer.
