ABOUT EMERGENCY TECHNICAL DECON: Emergency Technical Decon (ETD) operates state-of-the-art cleaning and decontamination service facilities designed to increase the lifespan and safety of first responder personal protective equipment (PPE). Headquartered in Eagan, MN, and with a recent location opened in Portland, OR, our patented Liquid CO2+ cleaning process is scientifically validated to remove up to 99.9% of carcinogens. ETD serves fire departments, EMS providers, healthcare systems, and other ISPs across North America, helping reduce occupational cancer risks and ensure NFPA compliance. Emergency Technical Decon is an affiliate of Hughes Fire Equipment, united to bring specialized solutions directly to public safety agencies. POSITION SUMMARY: The Accounting Coordinator supports the day-to-day operations of the Executive Management Team and Accounting Department by coordinating financial processes, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with reporting and compliance activities. This role works closely with the VP of Operations and Director of Strategy and Performance to ensure timely processing of transactions, adherence to accounting policies, and efficient workflow across accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions. The Accounting Coordinator plays a key role in supporting month-end close, resolving discrepancies, and improving accounting procedures to maintain financial accuracy and operational effectiveness. In addition to supporting Emergency Technical Decon in its growing national presence, this role will also assist with other accounting tasks as needed across other brands within the Hughes Fire Equipment ecosystem. This position is looking for someone in the west or central region, preferably able to commute to an office in Portland, OR, Phoenix, AZ, or Dallas-Fort Worth, TX metro areas. This position requires the candidate to work in-office with remote or hybrid work possible dependent on candidate experience and ability to work remotely. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate and support daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities Prepare, review, process invoices, expense reports, and payments in a timely and accurate manner Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes Maintain accurate financial records and ensure proper documentation and filing Monitor account discrepancies and work with internal departments to resolve issues Support budgeting, financial modeling, and forecasting by compiling financial data and reports Assist with payroll processing and related reconciliations (as applicable) Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements Coordinate with external vendors, auditors, and internal stakeholders as needed Generate routine financial reports and provide analysis to accounting leadership Proactively recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracywithin accounting functions Support strategic analysis and provide recommendations to leadership based off observations on financial processes and accounting statements (ex. Revenue enhancements, expense reduction) ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Aids with planning and implementing changes in the accounting system Recommends changes in financial policies and procedures, as necessary Performs other duties as assigned by management Follows the general operating policies and procedures of the company JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or related field 1+ years of experience in Accounting or Finance preferred Knowledge of the principles of accounting and finance (GAAP) Competency in MS Office, MS Excel and accounting software Strong organizational skills with attention to detail Solid work ethic with exceptional time management skills Analytical mindset with an aptitude for numbers Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to maintain good working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, management, and outside agencies Note: The interview process may include a financial skills test provided by the employer.
