Senior Robotics Engineer
Perception Engineer Remote, East Coast U.S. preferredU.S. Citizenship RequiredOur client, a venture-backed maritime robotics company is hiring a Perception Engineer to build perception and navigation systems for autonomous platforms. This is a hands-on role for someone who has built autonomy for real-world robotic systems and is excited to work on difficult, messy, high-impact problems. You’ll help vessels perceive their surroundings, localize accurately, and navigate safely in dynamic on-water conditions.Day to DayBuild and improve perception systems for autonomous marine platforms.Develop capabilities for object detection, tracking, segmentation, scene understanding, and environmental awareness.Work on localization, mapping, sensor fusion, and navigation in GPS-degraded, marina, harbor, and coastal environments.Integrate and process data from cameras, radar, lidar, GPS/INS, AIS, depth sensors, and other marine-relevant sensors.Design real-time perception pipelines that support autonomy, decision-making, and safe navigation.Write production-quality robotics software in C++ and Python.Work with ROS/ROS2, simulation tools, autonomy frameworks, and field data.Support testing, validation, debugging, and deployment on real robotic platforms.Collaborate with autonomy, controls, hardware, and field operations teams.Experience we’re Looking ForStrong background in robotics perception, computer vision, sensor fusion, localization, mapping, or navigation. Background in planning, controls, navigation stacks, or broader autonomy systems.Experience building software for deployed autonomous systems such as maritime robots, drones, autonomous vehicles, ground robots, or other field robotics platforms.Strong C++ and Python skills.Experience with ROS or ROS2.Understanding of SLAM, state estimation, tracking, calibration, or multi-sensor fusion.Comfort working with noisy real-world sensor data and debugging autonomy systems outside the lab.High ownership, strong technical judgment, and ability to move quickly in a start-up environment.Experience with PX4, ArduPilot, embedded Linux, Docker, CI/CD, or cloud robotics workflowsWhy This RoleWork on autonomy in one of the hardest real-world robotics domains: maritime.Own perception and navigation systems from prototype through deployment.Build software that runs on physical autonomous platforms in complex environments.Join an early technical team with meaningful ownership and impact.
